Is absolutely worth it in every regard! If you have no patience for story building then go watch some convoluted garbage like AOT. I've watched the series in it's entirety a couple of times now.
Season one is solid.
Akito the exiled is technically in between season one and season two. Here's the Clincher though.... While I LOVE Akito the Exiled.... How do I say.... it's not really in form with the series itself. You'll do yourself a goodin if you watch akito the exiled going into it thinking of it as an ART piece. Seriously. First off; I never knew that I needed french voice acting/via the dub. Holy shit; I could just listen to them talk at me all day; so beautiful. But yeah if you go into it akito expecting more of S1 and S2? Well you might be confused... estranged. See it as an art piece like a french indie film or something and you'll appreciate it more. (I absolutely guffawed at the centaurion mecha like what in the holy eff?)
Season 2: Good form and kind of works out the way the starwars films the original 3 and the prequels not that other garbage. It's poetry that matches and speaks to itself. You'll see Season 2 reaffirm certain aspects of season one and build upon them.
And then there are the OVAs that came out more recently which explore the alternate ending idea that so many were enraptured by with the very end of season 2. (Is he alive or not?) I loved it; was a fun love letter to the fans.
I've often and still refer to Code Geass as kind of like Shakespeare's Hamlet....but with Mechs. XD
