It's boring as fuck. Normally mystery stories give you enough to almost figure out the mystery but still make it impossible to do so, but Mononoke gives you almost nothing so everything feels like an asspull.

But the art was good though, right?
I feel like it's the visuals that carries this anime so hard.

The visuals were great for its time but I think stuff like the monogatari series pulled off this style of editing and storytelling better.

NTA, art and soundtrack are top but that's about it. There's no plot since it's episodic, there are no characters since they only one that matters is the MC and we learn absolutely nothing for him and even the mystery is disappointing. Basically the NPCs already know the answer and it's just a matter of time for MC to convince them to talk. He doesn't do any solving.
