People trash 3 Kings but there was some great shit in the premise and more than half the episodes were good. The issue is that the last... 6 or so? Maybe even less... were rushed. Having a 2nd tournament was stupid but it was done interestingly to a degree.
But before it: it was pure kino.
It could have been great.
I read the manga too and it did have a cool arc with it turning out that Spirit World was corrupt (this was before this was an overplayed trope), or rather, King Yanma. Also great, but also ended horribly. Still, it could have been 10/10.

Too bad they cut out of all of the yusuke character building from the first 2 novels.

Wouldn't be Togashi without a last minute retcon and an asspull. Toguro's backstory was the retcon and Genkai reviving was the asspull

The anime adding the romance between them was retarded. The dub making it more explicit was even more awful.

An interesting idea, but you have Elder Toguro who IS just a monster and he's NOT better off for it.
I think the issue is that they developed him AFTER he died (actually, they did a little bit when Genkai died) and it was rushed and not well paced.
He learned his lesson by HxH though.
MY issue is that his backstory doesn't fit his decisions very well.

Your 2nd sentence is 100% true. but the first isn't true. He usually isn't like that. You can see it with Sensui and the 3 Kings and everything in HxH. Toguro is the one who stands out.

Yeah he is right. The dub adds the part where Elder Toguro state they were in love, nothing of the sort is in the manga and I don't think original either. Also, look at the final meeting between them in the manga, nothing is presented as romantic.
