The Japanese are mentally ill.

lotus eater machine
barbarian civilizations wouldn't understand

How come you are pretending like this wasn't a common fixture of old British & American sci-fi a few decades ago? Could it be because you're ignorant due to being underage or are just illiterate?

The most popular alternative to writing isekai shit
+ Game mechanics
+ High asspull potential

Same reason they are obsessed with isekai
the target audience is pathetic depressed losers who like to watch wish fulfillment shows about leading a life in a different world with different rules where your shortcomings in real life don't factor in this.

escapism and living in a better time are synonymous with the audience for manga. Just think about how many high school and isekai stories there are. The people hate their lives and want something better. VR might honestly be their best choice if they don't want to consider going outside or learning rope skills

>japanese
>when gook write more about it

because the jews fund anime and they're trying to normalize metaverse matrix bullshit to enslave everyone, similar to the movie the matrix

>retarded OP puts forth generalization
>everyone responding automatically takes it at face value

>The people hate their lives and want something better. VR might honestly be their best choice if they don't want to consider going outside or learning rope skills

Not exactly, they hate their life but they're not willing to compromise at all for something better. It is a great irony that despite the prevalence of game mechanics in modern anime, the actual MMORPG and RPG industry is largely dead with a niche playerbase. These virtual worlds are quite real, you can play EVE Online all sorts of private servers for the roleplaying experience, but why do you think they don't?

We live in a post-bait culture, where you should assume people really are fucking retarded and not merely pretending for the sake of discourse

eat shit euro tranny. you will NEVER conquer USA
USA USA USA USA USA USAUSA USA USAUSA USA USAUSA USA USAUSA USA USAUSA USA USAUSA USA USAUSA USA USAUSA USA USA

everyone loves the idea

>Japanese
It's just a bit more modern version of the Matrix, which in turn has its roots in Gibson's cyberspace, no?
How is that Japanese?

at the time of cyberpunk popularity the japs were the ones cornering the markets. it was always inherently japanese within western fiction.

because the current MMORPGs are still only a fraction of the possibility of these anime RPGs. Plus, the isekai and fake MMOs still have these "super talented protagonist that is born strong or smarter than everyone else in the universe", which is not the case with reallife MMORPGs, as they try to balance every player. Meaning even if you were play a MMORPG, you would still be a loser without a harem of girls lusting after your dick.

>matrix
matrix was basically inspired by anime, a better fittin example is tron, but yeah is not only a japanese thing

It's an escapism that should be here in the next 10 or 20 years. The current stuff is too clunky for any real action and is more of a gimmick.

>super talented protagonist that is born strong or smarter than everyone else in the universe
>harem of girls lusting after your dick

Which is exactly why I said lazy escapism, above scenario will literally NEVER happen in a MMORPG, you can't balance it with multiple real players, it's a childish oh I'm so special and the entire world should cater around me type fantasy for mental 12 year olds.

>How come you are pretending like this wasn't a common fixture of old British & American sci-fi a few decades ago?
Because it wasn't.

it does open up new paths though
>MC's hack skill is actually hacking so the system/admins are against them
>system/admins are also japanese so they are trying to pretend MC isnt hacking
>motive for actual hacker to oppose MC with rival powerlevel

>if you die in the game you die in real life
is still a western meme

because it's unironically the next step in the mmo evolution
vrmmos are the future

Concession accepted.
