Does Violence Jack need a reboot?

You can't have gore in anime nowadays

No, read the manga.

Make Violence Jack into a mildly annoyed Jack and make his backstory twice as emotional
Also add a bishounen homolust subplot while you're at it

Hell no. Even bastard! was censored. Violence jack is only cool because of the over the top gore and sexual content. The story, if you can even call it that, is trash.

The story requires you to read a completely different manga to even appreciate it

Too gory and violent, it would make new audiences neo-nazi.
Definetly not cool.

devilman?

Amon mangaka Yū Kinutani is currently working on a remake of the original Go Nagai manga in Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine, Violence Jack 20XX (バイオレンスジャック20XX). So far, 18 chapters have been serialized, and none of them have been scanlated. Good thing we can read Japanese.

>"We meet again, Captain Buttwipe!"
Why was the dub so based?

No. But when I win the lottery I am gonna buy the rights to MD Geist and remake it.

That's the Go Nagai i love

I don't think so, at least at fitst Violence Jack tried to be his own thing for a while. But near the end it becames literally devilman.

Only 20% of Jack is actually tied to Devilman, most of the manga was basically "what if this one Go Nagai character was dropped in this shitty post-apocalyptic hellhole?", very episodic, it was only when Nagai wanted Violence Jack to have its own ongoing plot that he started linking it towards Devilman.

Yes but only if it's not censored or watered down. Sadly that is impossible. Hell, even a GTO remake that follows the manga 100% would be more watered down than the existing GTO anime.
and that's a good thing!

another recent go nagai adaptation had a kid turning into a demon and eating his mom with bloody results and a girl crushing a dude's head and fucking the body
but no, you guys are right, the lefty puritans are out to get you
abilify 10 mg, ask your doctor about it

Violence Jack seems to have a large female following in Japan. Clamp was definitely inspired on Violence Jack while making Tsubasa

Don't forget to follow the complete works book and line notes from the original Japanese VHS from the 80s. Those are a treasure trove of deep lore, with none of Central Park Media's filler from the Ground Zero, the comic book adaptation, The Director's Cut, and Ground Zero.

People would unironically call the description of the knife a Berserk reference when Violence Jack invented that (along with the entire post-apocalyptic wasteland genre).

I'm going through shin getter robo now. Afterwards I'm going into his other works but do I need to read devilman first?

No, but black lion does

Man I wish they showed to us what type of jack he was before being Violence jack, think with me, he could be Party Jack, the best party organizer in japan, he could be Lumber Jack, the mater of wood, he could even be Jack Jack, the most Jack of all Jacks, but it looks like they don't care jackshit about him

Wait' isn't Violence Jack tame by Mai-chan's daily life standards?

i just got chewed out for laughing too loud at your post at work you son of a bitch

One was a mainstream manga from the 70's, the other is a Guro porn manga, not exactly the same standards, nor nowhere near the target audience.

In school he was known as JackOff.
