3D ANIME and the Future?

So it goes without saying that, much like how digital replaced cel, 3D IS going to replace 2D. There's been A LOT of failures (ie Berserk) but Guilty Gear Strive (not anime lol) demonstrated that you could make 3D pleasant to the eye for the average viewer. Add some film techniques (grain? reducing frame rate? dull the colors?) and you've got something.

Strive has the benefit of a locked perspective and takes stupid long to animate. It's not feasible for a TV production.

Totsugeki

DBS Super Hero FLOPPED
It's over for CGI.

3d is more expensive than 2d

Is it? If a studio builds the models, and they have a successful property, they could just milk the assets they already have.

3d animators cost more

3d is more expensive but more cost effective because of the potential asset reuse.

People would be a lot more accepting of DBS Superhero's animation if it was as good as something like this.

THAT'S RIGHT
GO
FORTH
DON'T LOOK BACK
I CAN BELIEVE IN THE PATH I'M ON
FAITH
PRIDE
SO WHAT DO I HAVE TO FEAR

Really? how do you know?

So it's more of a "are we working with a known and popular property" and "what's our budget for the first season?"

Speaking of Strive Sanzigen did a music video for it celebrating its one year anniversary

Nice

3D is already used all over the place in manga and webtoons.
Seeing how effective it is in those mediums and how few people even notice it, tracing 3D will most certainly become commonplace in anime as well.
Fully 3D anime Strive-style isn't coming anytime soon, though. It's very labor-intensive and doesn't have most of the benefits commonly associated with the use of 3D.

If 3D animation costs more than why did ArcSys switch to 3D with Blazblue? They literally used 3D models to generate 2D spites and afterward switched their later games to run the 3D models in a 2D game.

yeah, a full anime season looking like strive would be the most expensive animated movie of all time by far and would never ever sell enough to make it back. It would bankrupt anyone who tried it and it would take really long

Digital is way simpler than cel though, 3d is more complex than 2d and always will be nomatter what. 2d will always be cheaper for adaptations like biscuit hammer, and rotoscoping is cheaper and better lookimg than 3d and evem 2d sometimes.
Digital 2d is actually NEWER than 3d, 3d was possible in the 80's, fully digital high definition 2d wasnt even possible until the early 2000's. Digital 2d has just as many cost cutting techinques as 2d, digital 2d uses ai to predict how it would move in 3d anyway and has since like 2000.
3d modeling deters dynamic movement, stuff doesnt stay on model when it moves, bodies change shape, necks stretch etc. 2d will ALWAYS be better at capturing stuff like that.
3d will only ever be cheaper for shows with very few characters and uncreative monsters anyway.

Aaand my final poimt is that if you want 3d movement to look as good as 2d you have to animate it frame by frame anyway

>much like how digital replaced cel, 3D IS going to replace 2D.
What you stupid cunts call ‘digital’ is the progression of 2D animation.
3D animation is its own school of animation that has gone through its own development over quite a few years now.
There is no natural progression for animation, now fuck off and die.

Yeah except no one who wants to create art will do this, only people who want nothing more than to make a quick buck
