I do not see any reason for this characters existence if she doesn't do what was stated on the tin, join. Oda effectively wasted 500 panels for a "GOTCHA" moment that everyone could predict. You cannot defend this no matter how much you dislike the character.

Oda wasted 500 panels for a cheap bottom of the barrel twist. Sidelined all the strawhats. Bloated Wano needlessly. For absolutely nothing. This is a bad omen for the future.
