How did this avoid being axed?
How did this avoid being axed?
Just by chance
You don't have to run faster than the bear to get away. You just have to run faster than the guy next to you
Why do magazines still employ axes when chainsaws are a thing?
An axe is more satisfying
It’s obviously planning on ending soon.
There are relatively few battle manga in Jump right now, especially since they did axe the very similar Ayashimon. Also they chopped a lot recently so Doron Dororon got a bit of a breather. IIRC it also got a slight bump in placements when it revealed its lineup of high-level exorcists or whatever they are.
You can tell from how they're rushing through introducing those guys that the axe is close, though. If it looks like people are enjoying Aliens Area as a more serious battle manga, though, this is gone.
Everything else is worse.
Dunno, honestly one of the lowest quality manga I've ever seen
every single idea and concept stolen, just sad fuckery
Earthchild IS worse, but the rest?
it's by far the most boring thing in the magazine
By chance. It's a dead man walking at this point, will be gone by next round.
axe doron, replace with rebooted build king
Nah, Earthchild, PPPPP, Akane Banashi and Super Smartphone are all more boring
>every single idea and concept stolen
The MC does suspiciously look like Horohoro from Shaman Kino.
But then again, Black Clover also did the whole "shounen cliche plagiarism" thing and it's alive and thriving
At least those try to have interesting ideas
>Akane
>Boring
PPPPP is doing well though, so it's not even a contender for the axebowl.
Akane isn't boring. Ppp is aesthetic.
Smartphone is kinda bad when the focus isn't Seomizu or Kangan, yeah
never looked at BC but the first chapter of doron is like historically relevant in its theft. It's like "here are about four concepts from other stories, i'm combining them sloppily"
Doron is better
Battle shounen in Japan is a dying genre
>Horohoro
I would agree had Tanjiro never existed
Granted, they're all better conceptually, but they're still boring
Well I'm glad you find it entertaining but I'm very bored. I'm not at all engaged by whether Akane can make the Jugemu story interesting. I guess if you find her hot you might give it more of a chance. That's why I don't find Blue Box boring, for example. Or Nigejouzu no Wakagimi
Kind of surprised it's doing well. It is at least visually interesting. But the story is pretty dumb and the last few siblings introduced haven't been at all memorable.
>Kind of surprised it's doing well.
It's a bunch of twinks with autism playing piano and talking about how much they miss each other. Super marketable to fujoshi.
I dunno, JJK is out right now which is a historically good one imo.
I want more weird battle shonen stories that aren't so much "of the week" like Gleipnir. Probably a bad example since the storytelling sucks. Okay, Jagaaaaaan. Wait, the storytelling sucks in that too
I think that's what we're moving to a little bit though-- battle shonen with something more of a tale to tell instead of just getting stuck in battle treadmill mode
I want to Dandadan right in the DoronDororon and you can't stop me
Aliens won't last long either, its first 3 ToC placements were like 9, 12, 13. Its already in the axebowl. Doron and Earthchild are just the lead runners in the next to be axed competition.
I don't read Akane but how does it work? Like an acting manga? If it's Rakugo drama it's easier to portray, but I thought Rakugo stories were mostly comedy, but for comedy you need to listen to the Rakugoka
JJK is coming up on 5 years old. They need a new, successful, battle shounen that isn't based on a gag concept (ie Sakamoto Days)
Yeah I don't have much hope for it and its lead character isn't interesting or likeable
The thing you faggots don't consider is that battle shounen doesn't have to reinvent the wheel. As long as it has decent art and a couple of cute characters people will eat the shit up like no tomorrow. It's a reliable formula, like eating a sandwich with potato chips, you don't need to always eat a salad or steak for every single meal.
Sometimes an anime adaptation breathes life into it. But most people prefer to have something stable and reliable to fall back on. When most people are feeling lazy, they'll make spaghetti or a frozen pizza or whatever shit is in the fridge. Same concept. With that execution matters much, much more than premise. Would you eat a spaghetti dinner made with fucking shirataki noodles and ketchup? Fuck no, you'll go for the properly made pasta with meatballs and marinara sauce. Even without the ufotable adaptation Demon Slayer was still popular enough to escape the axe and have a complete story while being the most generic shit possible, people ate this shit up.
With that said you don't go to Shounen jump for anything interesting anymore. You go to Jump Plus for the new and interesting stories that try something new. You go to shounen jump because you want a fucking burger and fries and not have to think about it so much.
>fujoshi
I don't think you know what this word means
the guys who make them just aren't trying, there is no soul to them anymore
>As long as it has decent art and a couple of cute characters
Wrong bitch. Battle shonen doesn't need either "good art" nor "cute characters" it just needs to know what it wants to tell and execute it well.
Do you? The entire manga is about gay shipping. They even introduced female counterparts that are also gay.
It's basically a very straight sports manga but the sport is rakugo. It's about a girl whose father was kicked out of his rakugo job so she's studying to become a pro rakugo artist to get answers from the old dude who kicked out her father!!! And each rakugo performer has some angle that makes them superior, like attention to historical detail or acting in a very emotional way!! Now Akane has to find the way to win rakugo competitions with a gimmick of her own!!
It's pretty generic but it's kind of interesting to hear about rakugo itself and Akane is bait for lonely autists who think she's obtainable
>Jump Plus for the new and interesting stories that try something new
user I...
In exchange for this thread can we have no doronposting in tomorrow's Jump thread?
Where did you get good from "decent"?
Again take Demon Slayer for example the story and art have a shitton of flaws where on paper if it was made during the Bleach, One Piece and Naruto era shit would get cancelled. Demon slayer is the prime example of my point.
It has decent enough art to follow the action, and it has cute characters people can latch on(Inosuke, Tanjiro, Nezuko, etc)
