I liked it but it's too violent. Why couldn't they just embrace the comfy innocent aesthetic?

Second OP is kino

shut up bruh there are literally thousands of stupid, shitty, low budget "comfy" slice of life anime.
At least ONE actually has good animation.

>kino
die

>slice of life
You can have an adventure with conflict without having the violence clash with the tone. It really gives off an RPG vibe, and I kind of hope the violence wouldn't exceed something like dragon quest.

there are lots of anime like that, stop complaining about good animation, anime needs much, much more good animation, not less.
This show had some of the best animated fights last year

I think he's more concerned about the edgy parts in it rather than the animation.

i'm not complaining about the animation, i'm complaining about the gore and violence level. Some stuff like stabbing bochi just was not nessicary.

The fight between him and his dad was great. Animation was good and the artstyle was good, but it was trying to be too shonen rather than embracing what makes it good.

Funnily enough as the violence level ramped up the themes became more juvenile, the characterization of the big 4, especially Domas and their struggles with oaths of fealty lose any sense of stoicism and they just become comic relief.

The pacing of the show also sacrificed a lot of world building, magic the races etc are not well definied.

I kind of hope this is not a long running manga and part 2 is the final part. With Bochiis power level they will have to introduce a lot of contrived stuff to challenge him if they want to make this a battle manga.

They kind of messed up making the king of the underworld ranked #1. No where to go from here besides the Gods ( which are already overcome by bosse and more in the manga) or the Demon.

I think the violence fits in well with the cute and innocent parts.

How was stabbing him not relevant if he died and wound up in the afterlife, relevant again to his end show development? You sound like a pretentious little faggot.

>How was stabbing him not relevant if he died and wound up in the afterlife

It's very clear this is not going to happen, it's pointless because we know he's not going to die, they could have just made us question -- maybe about Kage.

It's needless brutality and the immortal and the rest of the criminals were cringe in general.

What the fuck are you talking about? It happened, did you speed watch?

You are the problem.

I dropped it. should I pick it back up? is it worth it? the anime was slowing down and the threads were all doomposting so I just decided it wasn't worth it.

Don't bother
completely falls apart after the first cour

Bother
Completely heightens after the first cour

the duality of man

it does get worse after the first half. You are watching mostly for atmosphere an animation, the story itself is not very good, it's generic in good ways and bad.

First big cringe was Domas cutting off the hand he pushed Bochii off with, like this writer is a hack.

showing a little blood isn't that edgy, and it's realism and tonal contrast like that that defines anime as a medium honestly

it gets cornier but the second cour still has some decent action and stuff

I dunno. I guess if I'm bored tomorrow I'll pick it back up. So many other series do the medieval fantasy thing better though

I'm not following how a character cutting his hand off makes the writer a hack, but okay big moralfag boy.
