What would L's stand be? He'd have to have a stand to fight

Nothing. Same as with Light he has to figure out the identity of a mystery killer, and deduce his target has a supernatural ability without having one himself. He would have no way of defeating Yoshikage Kira, but could he find him?

But would he have the assistance of the joestars and that? Or at least would they be trying to find him too? Then L's chances would significantly be higher since he would have a trail of evidence

L would die to Kira way faster than he did to the Kite or w/e that niggers name was.

It'd be much easier to narrow down the location, since the criminal doesn't act all over the world. So it would be more of a typical Sherlock Holmes-like mystery. L is a good detective overall (apparently the best in the world), so this would work on his advantage. Not saying L has fighting magic but unless Kira is moriarty-tier he'd find it ez.

Light only gets found because his goal involves becoming known to the world which essentially forces him to make the mistakes that leads L to him. Kira gives zero fucks about becoming a god and his kill count is significantly lower with little to no evidence left behind. Unless L gets lucky, I don't think he'd be able to find him without any supernatural asset on his side.

I mean first off would he even register Morioh? The only reason that P4 cast did was because of Ghost Blowjob, you can't simply go 'Missing People' because that shit happens literally all over the world.
Second what clue can he even find to lead him to Kira even if he did go digging? Kira vaporizes the bodies and any other evidence.

I think if any stand user is there, once they tell him about the existence of stands it becomes too easy. He had more of a handicap against Light.

True. Unlike Light, he can't provoke Yoshikage as easily since he wants to live a quiet life and won't react to something like getting called out on TV. He only reacts once someone is closing in on him. But as you say, L doesn't need to search the entire world, just one small city where people keep disappearing. So I think that gives L a chance.

Yeah, he would need a clue that something is amiss in Morioh in the first place. But I think being in contact with a stand user is too much of an advantage. If he meets even one of Jotaro, Rohan, or Koichi they probably find Kira pretty easily (and then die just as easily, unless the kid is there).
True that there's no evidence, but unlike Light, Yoshikage Kira has to meet up with his victims. L also did some analysis on the personality of Light, which he might also be able to do on Kira since only women in a certain age group go missing. I think that if he finds the button and gets to the new face part, then he can find "man acting suspiciously" pretty easily even if we assume the part 4 good guys don't exist. Kira doing stuff like practicing the guy's handwriting and replacing his shoes seem like the kind of things L would be able to suspect if he knew Kira had swapped faces.
