Apparently it finished, on August 1, 2022. Here's a thread for the fans to discuss it.
Now for a blogpost. I paused it on volume 5 a while back, wasn't very interested. I loved 3-gatsu no lion which is at least superficially similar and Chihayafuru felt infinitely more shallow compared to it and even some shoujo manga that I like. Does it get better? I've been spoiled on who wins the love triangle but I don't think I cared too much in the first place.
Just read the spoilers This manga really was written by a woman >I rejected you but I actually really love you I can't even glad about the ending after getting baited to think the opposite for too long
Jacob Collins
oh wait so the love triangle spoiler i got was actually reversed? interesting >This manga really was written by a woman 3-gatsu is also written by a woman though I'm sexist to a degree but women have written some pretty great things maybe i'm taking your point too literally tho
so the manga overall isn't really worth reading? like, if it's your first 50 manga then I'm sure it'll be a great ride but if you've already read hundreds then it's not too bad to skip right?
Sebastian Butler
It's a karuta manga first and a love story drama second. Can't really recommend it since I've been dropping and picking it up from time to time. You can probably skip it.
Cameron Carter
why are female writers so bad at romance
David Martinez
i didn't think it was a particularly good karuta manga though, I mean it was okay but didn't manage to make it that interesting for me. hikaru no go made me love go, akagi made me care about mahjong, idk. probably because males like romances written by males
Robert Rogers
The romance was good though >be airhead >depend on guy all along >ignore his feelings and only care about your own >guy is hurt and distances himself from you so you're free to pursue the other guy >work on yourself and sort out your feelings >realise how much you depended on him and that you don't want to live without him and that you never felt this way for the other guy This is called character development
Landon Long
anime only here, any chances of a season 4?
Aiden Martinez
Who the fuck won? Wasn't it supposed to be the black haired guy? The way you explain it makes it sound like the riaju guy won.
Brayden Rogers
Our boy did it against all the odds.
Noah Phillips
It's josei, of course the rich rapist wins.
Cameron Walker
Taichi won. Arata is the biggest cuck for hoping for Chihaya to even look at him
Chase Parker
I lost interest in the queenbowl when Shinobu constantly lose to Arata. What's the point of the match when it really doesn't matter who wins it when there are at least 2 players above the queen.
Benjamin Martinez
She was in love with him. The mangaka did the same shit as Hana Yori Dango and flip to another guy at the end because of popularity.
Cooper Phillips
Chihaya was looking at him, that's why Taichi had no chance but he got his asspull in the end.
Dominic Martinez
It's obvious Chihaya will be Queen at the end anyway.
Hudson Martin
How the FUCK did Taichi win?! All things were leading to Arata winning when I dropped it during the King/Queen match with Chihaya and Arata. The fuck?!
Colton Morris
It's called an asspull. Women writers not even once.
Justin Jackson
Aratacucks seething
Parker Rodriguez
Did you even watch/read the series? The memes about Taichi's suffering isn't for nothing.
Just realised everything in the story is just filter to get to the end.
Owen Lopez
>Taichi won MAH BOI, getting constantly shit on by the writer pays off I guess.
Wyatt Harris
>All things were leading to Arata winning No? You were listening to the circlejerk here too much. I was convinced Taichi was going to win so it's a (You) problem.
Thomas Bennett
I was convinced the author was projecting super hard about some highschool chad who rejected her and wanted to fuck him over within the story.
James Howard
>suffered for hundreds of chapters >wins at the final chapter
She did fuck him over. The manga became Taichi torture porn.
Nathan Gonzalez
>The mangaka did the same shit as Hana Yori Dango and flip to another guy at the end because of popularity. I think she flipped to Taichi around chapter 138 when Taichi starts distancing himself from Chihaya. From that point on Chihaya is almost always thinking about him, and that only gets more obvious after Taichi lost to Arata in the qualifiers. During that match Chihaya wasn't rooting for Arata. She was rooting for Taichi. And during the queen match Chihaya was constantly thinking about Taichi during the whole match too.
Julian Gomez
Thank god Taichi won. There would be a second Kyoani if he didn't
Matthew Gomez
I don't know if they were translated but whenever I read interviews with Suetsugu like the one with her and Hiro Mashima I'd get the impression that Taichi would win because the other party always without fail would mention how they're rooting for Taichi and Suetsugu would agree that he needs some kind of payoff for his hard work. And he couldn't win in Karuta after all.
Bentley Mitchell
This. Kana was also caught off guard and pointing out how Chihaya cried bitter tears for Taichi when he lost against Arata. People here are just dense.
Isaiah Davis
It's better that any of Umino's coma inducing shit
