The Joker would give the death note to the Riddler and laugh as Riddler went out of his mind trying to find out Batman's real identity. Batman would then stop him and confiscate the Death Note because Riddler would eventually start killing off all men close to Batman's height and would do so alphabetically out of a phone book - giving Batman time to find him.

Did L even argue with Kira on whether his Death Note usage was moral? I mostly remember L pursuing Kira because he thought Kira was an interesting criminal to bring to justice. And most of his takes on Kira were snarks intended to get the guy who he assumed was Kira to become upset.

Yeah L straight out says he's evil and that what he does isn't right. L is just the other side of the same coin, they both believe they're dishing out justice.

Not really, he went toe to toe against the police forces in the entire world, the government and a genius detective and he still came up on top. His only mistakes were killing Lind L. Taylor out of arrogance thinking he wouldn't be found out and trusting Mikami. Everything else was caused by outside factors like Misa. And to note, he still defeated L.
