Vento Auoro

Why is this part so disliked in the english speaking space but liked everywhere else? People blame the translation before the anime came out but now that there are good translations people still dislike it compared to part 1-4, are the current translations still bad?

Are you sure it's not just Any Forums? Any Forums's always had a hateboner for VA.

i dont see it being talked about favorably by anyone else either

The finale is dogshit and leaves a sour aftertaste. Get rid of Silver Chariot Requiem and Sleeping Slaves and make Giorno vs Diavolo just a little bit longer, though, and it would be great.

Because they haven't read the true horror that is JoJolion.
Give them time.

Jonathan, Joseph and Josuke are bombastic characters who wear their hearts on their sleeves and scream their feelings to the heavens, making their characterization super easy to parse.
Jotaro - who many people still consider a very weak protagonist - is a socially maladjusted sperg who larps as clint eastwood with a dash of columbo, and canonically fails to emote properly because he takes for granted that everyone else just knows what his current emotional state is as much as he does. But once you're in-the-know its easy to see he's an out of touch teenager that puts on a tough guy persona but also tries so hard to be a cool badass that it becomes hilarious,
Giorno is a genuine stoic for whom keeping a level head and not showing any signs of weakness is necessary for survival ever since he chose the path of a career criminal. His ideal of becoming a Gangstar is rarely elaborated upon and never spelled out. He expresses himself through his actions and the story demands you work backwards from his actions to figure out his emotional state outside of a rare few occasions where he's overwhelmed by his emotions like when he brute forces Bucciarati's soul back into his corpse in an effort to resurrect him. Understanding Giorno's personality and characterization requires more engagement with the text and emotional intelligence than every other Jojo protag so people who lack the EQ or just never learned to properly engage with texts beyond just reading them can't parse him and come away with the impression that he has no personality and just does things arbitrarily as the plot demands
tl;dr part 5 stars a 'show don't tell' protagonist which requires your audience has an above 8th grade reading level

Giorno is a Christ figure, which explains the stoic personality.

personally giorno is one of my favorite jojos due to him having the heart of jonathan and the cruelty of dio

Long time bad translation has worked it being bad into the fan culture. also this user said Giorno is a bit hard to understand especially since he is played into a more manipulative type role. Giorno wins the gang over by impressing them with his plans or aligning them with his goals like Bruno rather than pure comradery like other jojos. Also I think it gets too much shit GER and Diavolo. Every part has some out of nowhere bullshit in the final arcs. Like Kira's new powers, jotaro time stop, a secret horse running technique that makes the spin unstoppable. Diavolo is admittedly not the best, he unlike the villains he wasn't some major threat to the MC. Giorno is picking a fight a with him. That's why Trish is around because otherwise he is a victim of Giorno's ambition.

It wasn't a bad part at all and had some great moments, the end was just a little iffy and Giorno as a protagonist more or less just existed as a vehicle to move the plot forward.

I don't get this impression. He doesn't seem like he's putting on an act at all, his personality seems like that's how he is. Like your pic where he gives the guy the receipt, doesn't seem like he thinks it would be a badass thing to do. Maybe the author thinks it would be badass, but that's about it.

Is the scene where he has Mista in his arms supposed to be a Christ reference?

>Is the scene where he has Mista in his arms supposed to be a Christ reference?
It's definitely an allusion.
Giorno, son of DIO (God), wants to beat Diavolo (Devil). He creates life with his Stand, and throughout the Part, he gives hope to the whole crew.
There's a ton of biblical references in Golden Wind.

I think a lot of people just read too deeply into what Araki does and attribute symbolism to things that he most likely just thought looked or sounded cool at the time. Not that Araki's a retard or anything, mind you, and given how much of a westaboo he is it's entirely likely, but the guy very clearly likes to just add stuff to his manga that he thinks is cool at the time.

It's loved by the French and Italians

yet theres no italian dub :(

Contrarians. The last part to be fully adapted is always the worst one.
It's happened with every single part, and the general consensus here now seems to be that Part 6 is the worst.

Sorry amici, fratello mio...

He never does anything notably cruel though

I think there are two factors that led to Vento Aureo being disliked by the veteran western fanbase. The first is the aftermath that the bad scanlations still has on Vento Aureo's perception by fans who were introduced to it through the bad scans. Because it's hard to change the first impression that people have about a manga as their opinions have been formed about it which is hard to change for the most part. That's why the newer fans and especially the Japanese fanbase adore VA. The other factor is just its recent popularity and MOST of the hate will dissipate once it becomes "underrated" again in the eyes of trend following retards.

I feel like some people slightly misinterpret Jotaro's relationship with Clint Eastwood. Clint Eastwood is Araki's favorite actor of all time and was an influence in Jotaro's conception.
