Why are modern Fantasy anime MMO-inspired Isekai?

What happened to normal fantasy like RoLW, HLoA, Berserk, Claymore, Slayers, Orphen, etc.

Why must all characters have access to a stat screen and an invisible inventory?

And don't get me started on overpowered characters.

Because that's what sells.

But I don't like it.

That's not the anime industry's problem.

It should be.

>fantasy anime without status screen and invisible inventory airs
>OP is still complaining

Also, what the fuck does "overpowered mean in the context of fantasy?
Apparently Lina Inverse is not "overpowered", despite having the power to destroy the fucking world.

They still exist but you clearly don't read them.

I don't read anime. Dub only.

We get both every fucking season. Either look up what's actually airing or shut up and fuck off.

It's written by and for people who know nothing else.

Based time stuck user. Claymore would be here if not for the last episodes. Manga is worth it

Read something like Re:Cervin.

Because a lot of them come from web novels (absolute amateur hour) and going full mmo means you save an unimaginable amount of effort on proper world building. The sad part is the best part of a good isekai is its world building, so they are kneecapping their own work out of laziness.

Berserk is still running, so why put it there? The rest of these titles thrived in an era where fantasy was the hottest shit and as a result most of these stories were garbage that simply tried to profit off the passing popularity of said genre. Therefore they're not example of good writing by any standards - they age like milk. Slayers for example was more driven by it's goofy characters and wild humor then the genre of fantasy itself, therefore it could still make it today. But the rest of these titles not so much. Lodoss is, in the majority of it's overall content (including the books and the videogames) an absolute disaster, a messy story with random inefficient writing. It's the first OVA that brought it it's undeserved popularity, that version was a timeless masterpiece still enjoyable to this day.

Concerning isekai fantasy, I think it's mainly used today because it tries to cater to vidya nerds. It's efficient for the average viewer to start immersing themselves into the world because not much effort is needed to make the MC relatable or realistic since a common everyday schmuck is automatically relatable to some degree. It's a free pass for the author with little effort invested. If you want to have pure fantasy without the isekai element you need to flesh out the characters properly to make them lovable and memorable, but unfortunately that's too demanding of a job for mediocre fantasy writers and mangaka who'd rather just write garbage hopping the genre will carry all the weight on it's back. Personally I'd rather like to see that lazy fuck Hirano finish Drifters.
Nah hes right. No one cares about fantasy anymore and that's a good thing, it sucks.

its based more on dragon warrior.

The Lodoss OVA is complete shit compared to the books.

>Re:Cervin.
not him, but I root for that series but I'm afraid that means it will get axed. I was fan of Nokia, pre-Zen AMD CPUs and Windows Phone

Modern fantasy anime are the lowest of the low .
No only they are based on a mix of the two worse genre to grace video game medium (mmo aka grindfest and autism kindergarden / jrpg the genre that tries to push the limit always with how cringy and cliche it can get with its story/characters and keep using very outdated gameplay that was shaped by old technical limitation)
Now you take that mix of shit and botcher it even further by not respecting or understanding any kind of real game rules. Then add to it all the hallmarks of lazy writing
>mary sues and asspulls
>self insert mc
>parallel world setting to not bother establishing any meaningful backstory about the characters or world or events
>out of place and proportion fan service and char interactions
>pure evil and boring antagonists
