Just watched the anime and the movie for the first time. This has surpassed anime and became a work of art, it kind of feels like a disservice to it by posting about it here.

Your lack of commentary on anything that actually happened in the series makes me think you didn't watch it at all and are just using a cookie-cutter template response with a random on-topic image so your thread isn't instantly deleted.
Please, prove me wrong.
I don't feel an can express any opinion that hasn't already been stated multiple times. I content in simply showing my love for this series, but if it dies early or gets deleted then so be it.
It's a wonder you managed to pass the captcha. I guess bots are getting rather advanced these days.
>it kind of feels like a disservice to it by posting about it here.
EoE is Any Forumscore. Like Akira or Perfect Blue, too good for Any Forums
Like I said, I feel this has transcended anime so I'm not surprised if you'd assume I'm a bot for posting about it here. I'm surprised the thread lasted this long, honestly. I guess you being doubtful of how genuine I am is helping that a bit, so I thank you for keeping something I love alive just a little longer.
now watch rebuild and realize Anno is just a hack and you were looking too deeply into this silly anime that is as shallow as Naruto
Nah, he just lost his mind over time.
The rebuilds are a meta-commentary on what Evangelion became irl
It would be like if George Lucas made a Star Wars where he deconstructed Star Wars
Yeah but I mean, who’s responsible for making it what it is in the first place? The watchmen watch themselves I guess.
Filtered.
so deep
>You have to suck the series dick and have to know every quote otherwise you didn't watch it
Rei or Asuka?
OP didn't mention a single thing about the series kek
Rei
My brother in Christ

Kill yourself underage pseud
I legitimately don't understand the love for EoE. Nevermind that it doesn't connect with the TV Evangelion (makes sense, since it was a bunch of scrapped material) and feels like a weird AU, it's entirely just a weaker, worse version of the TV ending as it stands. It's got very little meaning, no message and nothing it really wants to say.
Almost the entire movie is taken up by nothing but pure meaningless spectacle.
The "rule of cool" religious references in Eva never fucking meant anything, and they still don't. What gives Eva it's depth is the characters, their emotional journeys and their arcs. Spending half your movie caring dumb meaningless symbols into the sky is pointless.
Rei, of course.
It's simple. If Asuka was better, then they wouldn't have deleted her to replace her with an upgraded version in Rebuilds (that happily sanded away all her flaws and depth, lol).
And if Asuka fans ACTUALLY liked Asuka, they wouldn't have gobbled up Shikinami at all, they would have rejected her and insisted they loved the original Asuka with her flaws, with her difficulties and with her negative character arc. But they don't, they love Shikinami, because she's the "I'm Tsundere but not really!" red-headed tomboy of their dreams.
The fact that Shikinami is almost invariably advertised with poses and iconography outright stolen from Rei is just the icing on the cake.
>Nevermind that it doesn't connect with the TV Evangelion
what do you mean? It pretty much brings closure to the entire series that was left hanging by episode 24. (and 25-26)
It continued directly after 24.
Anyone who says this either wasn't paying attention or didn't watch them back to back "The intended viewing experience!" Even putting aside the fact that EoE walks back Shinji's character arc all the way to the middle of the series, there's a tonne of things in 24 that're completely incongruent with EoE. Just right off the top of my head:
>Shinji at the end of 24 was able to calmly and easily talk to Misato, in EoE he's terrified and freaked out about her and breaks down just being around her.
>Same as above but with Rei
>Shinji in 23 not only rejects but makes a joke out of the idea of visiting Asuka in hospital, it's a waste of his time and she won't say anything to him. Asuka barely comes up at all through the finale and is never important to him or what's happening. Shinji in EoE screams, cries and begs for Asuka anytime he's randomly scared of Misato
>We see Shinji's instrumentality in 25-26 and it goes all through his psyche and his issues. In EoE suddenly half of it is about Asuka and she's injected where she never was before.
Even just the Instrumentality doesn't fit. It'd need a post all of it's own, but in the TV series Instrumentality let Shinji face himself, his weaknesses and his fears, it was a love letter to him and to Hikkimori's (like Anno). It pointed out that nobody hated him, he just hated himself, it was positive, it was encouraging, it literally ends with Shinji's world expanding as he solves the Hedgehog's dilemma.
In EoE Anno was bitter and cynical so Instrumentality is bitter and cynical and Shinji rejects it because "It's wrong" (no explanation given). Then he gives a speech about how he hasn't changed, hasn't grown and nothing will improve. There's no message, there's no meaning, there's no depth. TV had all that, EoE has nothing.
wow, and you're the one who says others need to pay more attention. Kaworus death is what spiraled shinji into being a giant mess. Sure he was still able to talk to Misato, but only because he was still hoping to find some answer that would ease his pain, which he didn't get, thus he started to look down on her as well as the fake Rei. Asuka was comatose, and thus was an easy target for him to project his desires on, including sexual and maternal.
And the instrumentality of the movie was not at all bitter and cynical. Please for gods sake rewatch it, especially starting the moment where rei is "fused" with shinji. That's where the hopeful message starts and anyone who isn't a giant idiot can tell by the blatant happy music, smiles and good message they say. Or what, is the fact that most people are still tanged confusing you?
Most overrated anime of all time.
