Ash Greninja was clearly written to be Mega Charizard X's match yet was never allowed to win even though the whole Ash-Alain rivalry was building up to it. If they need a retarded excuse for Ash to still want to train to become the strongest for the next series, they'll have no qualms making him lose to Leon even though that would still make him the second-strongest trainer in the world.
