How did such a broken summoning method ever get allowed in this series? Action duels were also a really dumb concept.

Pendulum as a mechanic is not broken, specially with Yuya's Deck (All-around terrible scales, very situational/bad pend monsters, lack of extenders,etc).

And action duels are just like Arc-V in general: A interesting concept very poorly executed. I'll die in the hill that with a bigger budget and better writting, action duels could have been the pinacle of the franchise

When Pendulum was first introduced it was really bad because the Scales on monsters (which determine what levels you are allowed to Pendulum summon) were really bad. They later tried to buff it by making a lot of 1-8 scale monsters and just letting you summon your whole hand for free, but it was STILL underpowered because it leaves you with on resources left in your hand, and the need to draw Pendulum scales means you can't risk playing a lot of staple cards that other decks use to counter the meta.

action duels fucking killed it for me desu, they aren't even playing yugioh anymore. its the exact same as duelist kingdom where both guys just make up whatever shit is convenient as they duel. fucking retarded.

So is Pendulum summoning used a lot in todays meta?
They just take all of the fun out. I tried to be open minded about it, because I hated riding duels when I first heard about them, but they were actually really fun duels. But action duels suck.

Pendulum has only had one meta viable deck in history, that was killed when they banned Performapal Monkeyboard. And now even though Monkeyboard has recently come off the ban list they have been too powercrept to be meta again.

Yuya vs yosenju Swatari was a very fun duel

it's kinda funny how Pendulums swing (heh) from being trash to straight broken and back with a few new releases here and there

Pendulums had one absolutely broken deck that destroyed the OCG and had to be prematurely neutered in the TCG.
Qlipoth, PePe, Metalfoes, Zarc, they were all meta.
