Straight away I thought the point of overlord was the main characters being the bad guys.

Evil to his enemies, good to his allies. That's just an ideal leader. All his citizens are happy and E-Rantel is a multi-ethnic utopia.

I mean, he has massive amounts of negative Karma, sure.
However, I would say that Re-estize kingdom was objectively more evil than due to the way it was organized as it was a hive of corruption, stagnation, poverty and dysfunctional governance perpetuated where both factions had no interest on solving the underlying issues of the nation, but merely were locked in an arm wrestling contest over political power.

Sure, Ainz does kill people, a lot of people in fact and without a second thought. However, he also doesn't leave problems fester around like a cancer when he can help it, and on that merit alone, he is a more moral ruler than the King of Re-estize.

They fight off an actual threat and win and then they take over the world i would assume it then ends when another player awakens allowing for the story to continue but in the perspective of another with Ainz being the main villain.

Nazarick NPCs get a bit more sentience so they feel like actual people, Tomb of Nazarick truly become heartwarming family

more fucking so one thing that has to be considered, is in game sheets, ainz has -500 negative karma making him persinification of evil, that however does not efect him shit as his a player, a human in borderline god's body, npcs however are not, their ai and written personality is inprinted onto nw's selfs, demiurge for example has -450 karma and is devil incarnate, cruelty is part of his nature and being, that's also most of nazarick, you only temper him so much while still appearing as supreme ruler whole tomb sees him as

I wouldn't say it's as simple as that. He does evil things, certainly, but he's under a kind of mind control. Whenever he starts to have intense, normal human emotions, they get shut down. Besides, he's in such a bizarre situation it's hard to accept it as reality, especially with the emotion suppression. Is it even reality? He's in the world of a game. It doesn't seem like that should be reality.

Consider this: if you take Ainz out of the world, does it get better or worse? His guild NPCs would be unrestrained and likely unstoppable. There would most likely be general agreement between them that humans are mere cattle to use for food and sport. Momonga was an ordinary human with ordinary respect for human life and a normal sense of justice, and even with the suppression of his emotions, he's still a restraining force on a legion of monsters willing and able to make the world a living hell.

Oh, that makes sense. Momonga's basic sense of decency would explain why humans survive to be saved by the more conventional isekai hero. It'd be a funny ending if they set it up like it's going to be that way, but a hundred years later, the rest of his guild just appears to keep him company.
