I’m tired of pretending that One Piece is better than Fairy Tail.
I’ve made Fairy Tail the butt of shonen Jokes since I was a high schooler 10 years ago while reading One Piece, anticipating the moment when Luffy becomes the king of Pirates, however it became clear something was wrong.
The pacing is One Piece has been a slog, the comedy is not funny, main characters are useless (Brook, Robin) and the art has become more cluttered as time went on. Reading One Piece has been an act of ritual more than anything.
I read Fairy Tail for the first time last year, it was beautiful. Hiro Mashima played into his strengths after rave master, embracing the power of bonds, good pacing, comedy, short fights and letting side characters shine like when ElfMan joins grand magic games. The sound track is wonderful for the anime and the pacing is good as well. Fairy Tail boldly ended within 550 chapters and now has a completely optional sequel by another artist. Because Mashima knows how to move on.
I’m sorry my Shonen Jump brothers, slogpiece doesn’t do it for me anymore.

There are no stakes in one piece either. Everyone knew they were gonna win before the raid and every arc Luffy wins either because of an asspull or because he just "punched harder". It's even worst in the start of one piece where luffy would sometimes lose because "he was hungry", that's literally copied straight off the first arc of Dragon Ball.
I started watching fairy tail on episode like 200 cause it showed as episode 1 on Crunchyroll, not only did it not matter that i didn't watch the other filler 200 episodes that came before but i quickly realized how generic this shit was and that every arc basically started and ended the same fucking way it has some cool characters moments but no story to back it up if you want brainless shonen shit there ar way bettr options

fairy tail is the perfect 14 years old manga. It's got waifus, tits, asses, feet and decent artwork to carry the manga. Outside of that? There's not much worth in reading it, except maybe fujobait and shipfaggotry. I'll stick to one piece, at least that manga has stuff worth caring about or getting upset at, i'll take it over the nothingness that fairy tail leaves.

Fairy Tail's never been any more than decent, One Piece had a long time where it was high level shounen, had a dip in quality after the timeskip for a few arcs, then mostly recovered. They're not the same. Fairy Tail's a solid line, One Piece is more of a rollercoaster.
