I liked the first six episodes where he is a ghost and has to get his body back. I thought the whole show would be like this but then he becomes human again and it turns into generic shonenshit that has nothing to do with ghosts. I guess it would have taken too much clever writing for a hack like Togashi.
Wasted premise
read the manga, theres a lot of good detective stories early on
those stories are shit and everything else is barely average.
ok then
Togashi had absolutely no interest in writing anything clever until Chapter Black, as a result 90% of YYH was complete garbage.
Lol.
Togashi's entire MO is introducing a bunch of rules and concepts but then always giving himself an out to completely discard all that when he feels like it. He is an atrocious world builder.
That doesn't even remotely describe YYH though. Actually, it doesn't really describe anything he's made except for those few things in HxH. It's almost like you don't know anything about his works except for memes.
>doesn't like shonen
>complains when shonen is shonen
Dragon Ball if Demon Realm
>I thought the whole show would be like this but then he becomes human again and it turns into generic shonenshit that has nothing to do with ghosts. I guess it would have taken too much clever writing for a hack like Togashi
Togashi was literally forced to change to generic shonenshit.
He got permission from his editor to do the Spiritual Detective stuff ON THE CONDITION that it would turn into a regular battle manga after 30 chapters.
It was all planned out from the start. Togashi is way smarter than your retarded ass.
Retard.
Except the spiritual detective stuff was shit too. Like I said, there wasn't any attempt at cleverness or interesting storytelling until more than halfway through the entire series, and the beginning is no exception.
Well, he was only 24 at the time.
And it wasn't that bad.
Okay, this might be stupid, but I have this sneaking suspicion that YYH was at least partly the inspiration for Bleach, and basically Kubo also really liked the premise of the show, but wanted to take the same premise in a totally different direction.
Are there any other manga or anime that have this same kind of premise? Because I haven't ever seen or heard of one, but there's a fucking TON of shit I haven't seen or heard of, so maybe there's already a whole genre of stuff like this.
But there's no question in my mind that if you watch the first few episodes of YYH and then the first episodes of Bleach, it's uncannily similar, although Bleach does branch out in a very different direction.
Ichigo is even very similar to Yusuke.
I mean, it's a story about a delinquent kid who gets killed while saving a little kid and becomes a ghost janny who hunts evil spirits in the real world. And both manga end up discarding this cool premise completely to become a more generic shounen.
I hate shounen, but YYH is actually enjoyable
I also thought the first few episodes were the best. He had to use creative ways to communicate with people and solve his problems. After that all his problems were just solved by punching things really hard. My opinion isn't the popular one, I know, but I still would've liked to see him last as a ghost longer. GS Mikami was more what I was expecting YYH to be like, so at least there's that.
I'm on ep8 and I just don't see why YYH is considered hot shit. Hot garbage is more like it to me... or did it just age so bad?
Both got that drip
user if you like YYH then you like shounen manga. It's the most barebones basic bitch typical shounen manga there is.
Get used to that feeling. It aged like absolute shit.
>but I have this sneaking suspicion that YYH was at least partly the inspiration for Bleach
It's not a sneaky suspicion. It's confirmed on all fronts.
Bleach's serialization was delayed due to how similar it was to YYH.
Even Kubo jokes about this subject.
