I think the worst part is that Eva's message, that is the same as the new Rebuild, it's not even anything deep or complicated, it's basic battle shonen morality, it doesn't even need it's characters for it to work

The rebuilds are just a better version of EVA. I felt the writer mature through some of the changes he made.
Though Sonny Boy is an anime that you could apply the same sentiment to. That is that you're supposed to move on with your life and stop watching garbage. But then nobody that finishes Sonny Boy gets this.

I loved rebuild 1 and 2. Rebuild 3 was a complete shitshow. What moron thought it would be a good idea to do a 7 year timeskip and give dramatically different personalities to the characters we grew up loving and make the world so destroyed that there was nothing left to fight for. Rebuild 4 was just damage control for the shitshow that was 3. Anno had to ask Shinji's voice actor for plot ideas because he didn't think it was possible for someone to keep fighting in a world as fucked up as the one they made in rebuild 3. Fuck evangelion, I waited 20 years for shit fuckshit. And fuck OP for making a thread about that hack.

They introduced alternative realities in rebuild 3 and 4 so now he plans on turning Evangelion into Gundam. And allowing random writers to create spinoff or what-if plots. They're going to be milking eva for the next 3 decades. It's basically what the marvel cinamatic universe is doing. But I agree, he got exposed as being a hack who got lucky with the original Eva TV series. I don't look forward to his future work. I used to be a fan but 3.0 ruined it for me.
