It's your typical slice of life comedy. People compare it to Umaru-chan. However, it has better animation and a better initial premise. After one season, I liked Gabriel Dropout better than Umaru chan. But then it never got a second season while Umaru chan did. And the second season of Umaru chan was better than the first of either show.

How can people able to tolerate piece of shit brat like Umaru?

She gradually improves over the course of the show. Mostly in season 2. You're suppose to think she's a jerk in the beginning. Then you gradually see her help her friends and be nice to her brother.

In many ways, Gabriel is worse since she legit doesn't care about others. But that's also building up to something. When she's forced to go back to heaven and gets her penance.

this series is highly underappreciated. it's not anything incredible, but compared to things like Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh this series... also exists.
Mostly just cute, good for the occasional hearty laugh, heartwarming.
