Season 3 is the only good part, bro. Season 1 is unironically filler shit. Season 2 is a loose adaption of the adventure games along with some stuff from Sonic Battle(Emerl is there). Season 3 is where the anime finally gets interesting.

I believe what happened with Sonic X is that it was created with the mindset that "This anime will 100% be run in the US as well as Japan, please ensure it appeals to Americans". Now this was told to Japanese people but with no real research or input from Americans, and a lot of it is based on what Japanese people think Americas like or what expectations they thought Americans would have. So you end up with:
- Chris Thorndyke is RICH
- His dad is a MILLIONAIRE mom is an ACTRESS
- His uncle drives a FAST CAR and is the head of SPECIAL FAST CAR POLICE FORCE
- He has his own MAID and BUTLER, they are both FOREIGN
- Despite all this Chris Thorndyke starts the show whining about being the saddest, unluckiest kid in the world with no friends (HE HAS SEVERAL FRIENDS, AND THE FOREIGN MAID AND BUTLER ARE ALSO HIS FRIENDS)
- They all love FREEDOM and there is a FREEDOM DAY

The first 26 episodes look fine, but holy shit when the SA1 and SA2 arcs happen it really goes to shit. The hilariously cheap backgrounds in Windy Valley, and Shadow fighting Sonic is pure comedy.

The only show I can compare such cheap animation to are toy commercials like beyblade, duel masters, yu gi oh.
