The ED imagery has similar vibes to FLCL's ED. Other than that, and outside of self-insert MC meeting a playful Manic Pixie Dream Girl with sanpaku eyes, not really.

Maybe it feels like what people wanted out of Haruko and Takkun?

FLCL strikes men right at their weakest which is the period in early puberty from 10-14 where they are leaving boyhood and are extremely fucked up and undergoing tons of mental gymnastics about who they are.

Most people who talk glowingly about FLCL generally latch onto the SOL parts of the show rather than the action and muh randumXD

This show fits a similar profile

it has the visual and musical atmosphere of FLCL too.

Most of the FLCL girls seemed to be 'above' the MC in terms of maturity. The relationships between them were very asymmetrical. With Nazuna, she may be this vampire, but she's also very dorky and innocent, with the MC making her blush and stutter fairly easily, making them a much more 'even' match than in FLCL.

In flcl the haruko was definately a bit older but mamimi presented a very young personality compared to her actual age

the entire show is about naota fighting his age to get "older" by any means

This show is similar in that he is chasing the vampire while ignoring the ninamori in his life
