MAAM DO NOT REDEEM
For most of the time making Eva 3.0+1.0, Anno didn't give much information to the staff leading to delay and confusion. Part A even had to be rewritten because of poor review from the staff watching the rough cut.
Is this the one where he says he isn't a director and that his co-director has always done everything since the 90s?
He is the epitome of someone having a huge hit and then spending the rest of his career sniffing his own farts.
Not really, he rarely talked on set even to his cast member. He prefers doing a lot of takes or camera angles and done the editing by himself.
>his mindset as a director
Insecurity.
Everyone already knows this and its obvious as fuck from the Rebuilds. Why does this warrant a documentary?
He probably wanted to express his complex abut his disabled and abusive father, coming out from depression, and getting married to a loving and supporting wife but his idiosyncracies and his pursue of "perfect camera angle" got the better of him.
There's almost never any actual discussion about anno as a director on Any Forums.
It's always just retards shitting on everything he's ever done or shitposting the genius memes. Which is fun and all, but it does get kinda tiresome after a while.
This is like the twelfth eva related thread that won’t make it past 30 posts. People don’t seem to give much of a fuck anymore.
I usually like the ones from Archipel. The LWA documentary is also interesting.
Is this not a backlash to the countless threads made about Eva and praising Anno for only one work.
in this documentary, anno spent either missing for god knows how long to the point other people who worked on the anime were left confused where the fuck he was, presented his ideas only for him to say "you know what? this is shit. i'm gonna rework this part. what, you said the part that came after this part is already completed? well we should change it then", snacking an unhealthy amount of snacks, being autistic about camera angle while let everything else improvised. I don't know how eva 3+1 was finally finished looking how completely erratic anno's availability was but it did. yes it took forever, but it genuinely felt like anno finally was eager to finish it on the butt end of the production year.
>for only one work.
I think that's percisely the problem. All you get is people praising him vor NGE or shitting on him for Rebuild. If Any Forumsnons would actually look at his body of work beyond the surface level that is Evangelion, discussion would be a lot more vital and interesting.
To conclude: the real problem is evafags.
Fortunately (or unfortunately) he had Shinji Higuchi, Kazuya Tsurumaki, and a lot Eva-fans-turned-animator that willing to accept his idiosyncracies and keep churning work even though it will get discarded at whim.
I'm happy for anno he finally seems at peace with himself. He looks like he's having a blast with the toku stuff.
I think Anno is the happiest when he's talking about his Showa generation tv show like Kamen Rider, Ultraman, Space Battleship Yamato, etc. Look how happy he is when talking about Ultraman in Matsumoto's interview.
