They both have their ups and downs, but 2003 tried too hard to be dark and also didn't make sense at times. The whole "Alchemy is powered by people dying in our reality" was retarded and predictable. I do like the idea of the homunculi being created though human transmutation interesting. Plus Dante was a fucking retard. Why keep jumping into mortal bodies that will rot instead of jumping into Lust? Fucking retard. Also the whole thing with the Elric imposters was stupid as shit too. And how did they violate equivalent enhance with the red water shit? I thought you had to sacrifice human souls to circumvent fundamental laws of alchemy like that

I love both, I like brotherhood better overall because of the writing. But brotherhood is lacking so much soul 2003 had. 2003 had better music, directing, lighting, etc. brotherhood looks stiff and soulless, the boring OST becomes extremely fucking grating as the show goes on, and everything 2003 adapted is done extremely poorly by comparison in brotherhood
But brotherhoods writing is just that much better that it still wins out for me. Fucking archer and the world war 1 shit in 2003 is some of the stupidest shit I’ve ever seen in an anime
