Forgotten plot points doesn't really make something deep

Monogatari is deeper

Your mother's asshole last night was deeper than ergo proxy

proxy one, proxy one, because proxy 1 decided that proxy humans were more deserving of earth than true humans, but was still restricted by his programming, but it didn't forbid him from creating his own proxy that could be manipulated into reaching the same conclusion on its own without being directly programmed proxy 1. if he was perfect such a loophole wouldn't have existed in his programming. proxy one fled romdo to create this breadcrumb trail of mysteries for ergo proxy to follow that would eventually lead him to the desired conclusions once he fully awoke

Was the cogito virus just a back up virus made by original humans to turn robots into person if proxies fail? This would explain why infected robots attacks fake humans and proxies
Aaron Hughes
Proxy one was the one in love with Monad... so I guess Ergo was just there to cuck him

This video lecture demonstrates the practical application of philosophy in the narrative of visual media which in this case is Anime, or more specifically, adult or mature Anime. This video lecture, as noted in the title of this post is focused on how the Anime handles Decarte's "Cogito, ergo sum" within the narrative.

I watched it years ago, I will try to answer it
Ergo, I think. I don't remember One loving Monad, or being loved back. One created Romdo. He created Ergo to rekt the humans that were to come back. I don't remember why he locked his memories, I think he just wanted to have the experience of being a normal dude. ? ?

One day you will look back at this phase of your life and cringe, user. That's okay, growing up is meant to be bittersweet

Brandon Brooks
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu and Serial Experiments Lain. Or, like, hundreds of others if you don't want something overly "muh depth".
Dogshit fucking thread, I still regret wasting time on this piece of convoluted retarded shit, fuck you OP
Jose Thompson
When I watched this as a kid I thought the same, now looking back; hell no. Still a good anime tho.

Unironically Prisma Illya. It deconstructs deep themes about the human nature such as talent, hope, dreams while not being a bit serious about it. It presents them in a silly way and leaves you pondering, I'd say that's what true mature writing unlike the ones where they beg you to take them seriously.
Yes. The original humans had put in place several layers of failsaves to ensure humanity's survial If all went according to plan, the originals humans would've reclaimed the cleansed earth after the proxy humans had peacefully died off; If the humans never made it back proxy humans and proxies would've lived on; If the proxy humans had died off too cogito would've turned the machine into the equivalent of humans by giving them free will. Because of Proxy One actions everything went off at the same time, which was not part of the plan. This is the importance of the last scene: the humans really come back and find to await them a proxy human, a proxy and a cogito infected machine. All mutually exclusive occurrences by human (God in context) design. This play on the overall theme of Ergo Proxy: even if someone plays God his creations will be free to experience emotions and shape their lives
