One or two episodes, depends on how bad it is. I've dropped stuff halfway through if something really retarded happens.
And sometimes first few seconds like pic related.

Depends on what you mean by "dropping." Are we talking about a series we've been following for a while, or something new we're trying out?

In the latter case, I'll drop a series after a single episode or chapter if I can tell it's not going to appeal to me. If I'm iffy on it, I'll give it a few more episodes/ chapters, but I don't feel obligated to force myself to endure it for any anount of time.

For the former, it's less that I definitively drop the series and more that I'll get bored and check out other stuff and just never come back to it. Again, I don't feel like I "owe it" to the series to force myself to keep watching/ reading indefinitely if it's just not enjoyable anymore. I very rarely (if ever) ragequit a series.

if you've watched the first episode you can't drop til end of cour (and probably never). a pre-release preview might also get you stuck.

I have more dropped than finished. If I'm not having enjoying it, why should I go beyond the first two episodes? That's 50 minutes.

Might as well vent here.

most shows I watch I like to give a fair chance, recently I checked out Sketchbook full color and I didn't like the vibe from the beginning but I stuck it out for three episodes.

K-on I dropped immediately after the ass shot in the first minute.

It really depends, I dropped Mushishi after 3 episodes, MHA during the fourth season, and homunculus sometime after the tranny reveal, although not specifically because of it.

i've never dropped a show because i tend to research them first and avoid watching shows that i know i won't like

I never drop.

If I can’t get through the first or second episode without falling asleep or I’m unable to remember anything (this happening multiple times) I will drop It

Why don't you just make more interesting threads

i've been around the block enough times to know when something is shit, or more importantly, when i won't enjoy it. There's some stuff you're gonna run into that is pure unfiltered trash, and then stuff that is fine for their intended audiences, but just not for you. I'll probably never watch an idol show again. I like music, I like pretty things, but they all leave me unfulfilled in the narrative department and I know not to expect things of them anymore. You find your own tastes, you choose how to value your time, so you make the decision on whether to follow through or not with something you pick up. Just be sure what your tolerances are for letting go of longer stuff. That's ultimately what it comes down to. It's all about how much faith you have in your experiences and judgment to make decisions about infinite possibilities but finite probabilities. Anything you watch *could* turn out to be enjoyable and worth it to you, but will it? That's the call only you can make

If it's a new show I'm checking out, it depends. If the first episode is off-putting enough, I'll drop it then and there, no second chances. If the premise is interesting enough but the execution seems a bit iffy, I'll give it 2 or 3 episodes to prove itself.

If it's something I've already been following but grown bored of, I drop it as soon as I realise I'm bored of it.

>dropped mushishi after 3 episodes yet watched three and a half seasons of MHA

Holy shit taste

Seasonal shit, Shonen shit or bust.
My Shonen shit thread has 400 replies. But I'm not telling you who I am

This is dangerous in my experience because threads and search results often throw spoilers right in your face. I'd rather occasionally waste a half hour on something I end up disliking than risk blowing the suspense of something really good.

In the past I used to give it a few episodes but over the years I've become very trigger happy with dropping. I simply don't have the time to waste my time with shows I don't enjoy, so whenever something happens that I disapprove of I drop the show. I usually follow the show a little on Any Forums (if it really pissed me off also to shit up the threads) and if it gets better somehow I might pick it up again, but that rarely ever happens.

If I don't enjoy some aspect of what I watched, I drop it immediately.
No 3 episode rule, or anything.
Now that said, I'm not hyper critical of shows, so I rarely need to drop shows early or often. But I don't waste any more time on something that I don't enjoy.

3 Episode rule, always.
I don't care if I drop a show. I'm not partaking in some contest to see who can watch the most anime. I'm watching it for entertainment. If I'm not entertained, I'm not going to waste my time.

I drop a series if I don't enjoy it. I don't care of there's some potential to start enjoying it after X episodes. I've seen hundreds of series and I won't feel like I "missed out" on any individual one.

I usually go by the 3 episode rule as well with a few exceptions where I will watch a show to a certain point then it takes a nose dive in quality.

I tend to have faith that a show will get better, but if a show truly fails to catch my interest (a rare event, as I tend to be pretty easy to interest), then I simply lose the will to watch the next episode. This usually happens within the first three episodes, as after that I am pretty much always at least partially invested in the story and will see it out to the end. Even a bad anime is worth watching to renew my personal opinion on what "good" and "bad" anime look like.

I drop when I find myself saying "you know, I don't really care about any of this." I have no time requirements, and I don't do sunk cost fallacy shit. It doesn't matter if I say it within the first few minutes of episode 1 or when I'm already more than halfway through the series, when I get to that point, I'm out.

I don't drop shows because I only watch things I know I'll like. And since I'm not brain damaged, I'm always right.

There are series that I have dropped literally after I've watched the second-last episode and found myself thinking "I really don't give a shit how this ends".
