By the time the Kokoro/milkman subplot was taking off, the show was arleady considered lost. Everyone was mostly shitposting by then with minimal expectations, which really was a good thing considering how fucking bad the last 1/4 of the show was.

You missed one of the best freakouts Any Forums ever had then. Honestly Franxxx threads were 10x more enjoyable than the show itself and produced enormous amounts of memes and OC. I can remember there was this strangely convincing elaborate theory/shitpost about how Hiro was fulfilling the legacy of Charlemagne and all the speculation over how 02 was giving Hiro dinoaids. There was the crazy whiplash between episode 13 where we got to see how 02 and Hiro first met and the next one where Ichigo kisses him (pic related).
I think the only thing comparable since then was the end to SnK.

The thing I miss most from the ditf threads was Hiroposting about him secretly being a sociopath chad. It fit so well and you could unironically believe that was what the writers were secretly working up to for the first 2/3 of the show. But of course like everything else it fell apart toward the end, where all of the "evidence" really was just tons of coincidences and the writers had no idea what they were doing.
Seriously he was way crazier than 02, and none of his actions ever hinted that he ever gave the slightest fuck about any of the other pilots.

Just plain false. Everyone says the best episodes of the show are 13 and 15. The milkman relationship was an episode 16 to 18 development, before any bullshit happened that ruined the show (episode 20-21). Episodes 16 17 and 18 were just the cast dealing with the aftermath of episode 15 alone in the garden. There wasn't anything about those that differed from the first cour all that much. It was just more relationship drama the show already was entirely full of.
