You'd be hard pressed to find better even without the episode limit

ping pong was a bad anime, aside from Kensuke Ushio's soundtrack it's a disgraceful "adaptation", what's the point if you're just going to 1:1 manga panels with the worst abstract art possible, Ping Pong only comes off as good because it's carried by Matsumoto's writing, otherwise there's nothing going on on the style department.
Yuasa should be blacklisted from the industry

You reminded me I should rewatch that. Easily one of my top few favourite sports anime.

Yuasa may not have added that much to the manga but I don't think many other directors have the balls to adapt Matsumoto's artstyle faithfully. And the point of it is, we get also get a soundtrack and sound design
