The anime probably will cover the prequel vols so Cecily will make her anime debut there. No Iris though and Chris could only get a minor cameo appearance at best.

I own all 5 volumes. While I love megumin it's really mediocre.

I agree about the early volumes being bediocre but for me it gets better when the group gets bigger. Konosuba really drags when it focuses entirely on one dynamic, like the very early Kazuma and Aqua stuff. What works is group chemistry and multiple dynamics all trading the spotlight before they overstay their welcome.

The first 3 vols are the prequel with her life in the village and her adventures on the way to Axel and there before joining Kazuma's party. This is what probably is going to be adapted. The remaining volumes are set between the main series.

This. Megumin needs more characters to bounce off than Yunyun. Ironically Iris, the girl who people complain about for being too boring and vanilla in the main series, really shines in the spinoffs.
