Just finished Eden. It had absolutely no direction. Loved the cybernetics and violence, but it feels like the artist never learned basic story telling. Actually even if the story didn't matter and we just jumped from one chaos intot he next it would probably have been more coherent than what was actually presented. Damn if I read the first volume and then one of the later ones it's like I'm not even reading the same manga at all.

so you just learned about arc?

It also heavily relies on the plot device of prophecy to justify the inane actions of the antagonists.
>Make the world a terrible place
>See the prophecy is true! We need to leave this terrible place!
Why

what prophecy?
I've forgotten most of the plot points

>but it feels like the artist never learned basic story telling
You got it backwards, you are just too much of a brainlet and can only process generic linear history telling.
bet you think firepunch was all over the place as well

I liked the gnostic themes
Also
>the only relevant jap character is a brooding badass with a tragic backstory, unmatched in hand-to-hand combat
kek

>shit, nonsensical chapters are secretly very smart!
bro

yeah bro and Tarantino movies are also badly writen, they make no sense, were is the heckin hero journey am I right?

why a lobster tho?

The part where he pushes this guy to suicide was incredibly well done

Otherwise the manga was alright I guess

It's a story, shit happens, things unfold, stuff develops, like real life, the whole thing is not a methapor or some dumb shit that the author came up with told trough a generic story arc
if you can only process media stories that are told bia linear trope filled shit with tons of monolgue exposition explaining everything that happens then I'm sorry to say you are brainlet

All the chapters about the colloid are complete garbage except the one about the indian guy and that's like what 50% of the manga?

>All the chapters about the colloid are complete garbage
Fuck off brainlet, that's literally where the manga truly shines, both in terms of storytelling and philosophy. In fact, the whole manga would've been much better if it was ENTIRELY about the colloid.

It started incredibly strong, but after the time skip it felt like a different manga.

You've just learned that most well drawn manga are glorified artbooks and good writers can't draw

if there is something that hiroki endo does good is writing
what are some examples of what you would consider "good" writing

The baffling thing about this one is that the first half was genuinely great, and then it became just baffling. Also introducing silly humor out of newer at the mid point in a manga that up until that point was dead serious was such a weird choice. People compare about Berserk getting ruined because of the dumb humor, but that's nothing compared to this.

>what are some examples of what you would consider "good" writing
Anna Karenina, In Search of Lost Time, The Mill on the Floss.

Author seems a little obsessed with cocaine and prostitutes.

Fucking pleb
