I am a fan of anime manga, that I am sure of it. But I just don't like spending money when I can get it for free.
Is it wrong to never support your favorite series with money?
no being a fan of a series and being its paypig are two different demographics
unless you are poor and cant afford to spend money on your hobbies than fuck you you poor fuck get a job
I mean, given how many revenue streams exist for these things I'd imagine you'd have given to something like One Piece one way or another if that's not just an example pic.
I think you should support the official release in some way or another personally, but that could be anything from buying the manga religiously to buying a shirt to buying a game.
It doesn't take a lot to throw a bit of money their way, though if you're broke or live somewhere where it's too expensive/not even available, that's a different story.
When it's an unpopular niche series I try to support it, gotta nudge the industry a little. There are also the few lone series that don't have good scanlations but do get translated, those I buy them all.
But One Piece? Lol who cares, it's the most popular manga ever. It's pointless to support it.
>it's the most popular manga ever. It's pointless to support it.
Pisstard please
I'm of the opinion that you can't call yourself a fan of a series if you never support at least once. Obviously that doesn't include series that are out of print. Never purchasing a single volume or piece of merchandise, is proof enough that you don't really care about the series or want to see it progress. Also I don't mean that you have to buy everything, but if you never bought at least something, in the series with die if a good number of people did the same.
Holy shit KimetsuChainsawJujutsuwhateverfag I don't care for your faggotry or the drama about which shonen is the most popular this year. OP is a manga with an outstanding amount of circulating copies. I feel zero shame in not buying any even if I like it.
>It's pointless to support it.
I don't understand this approach. I buy the manga volumes because I like to have them to hand if I ever want to do a quick checkup for reference or to simply reread my favourite parts. It's also more wholesome to browse through a volume to show an epic page or part to a friend, rather than ask the friend to "hold on" and awkwardly watch me as I look up the chapter number and slowly find the specific page. It's just nice to have my favourite works in physical form at home.
>gif extremely related, every single faggot in this thread who "doesn't see the point" in having a physical copy of their own
I'm a fan of thousands of media, tho, and it's just not possible to spend the time to spend the money on them all, it's a lot to ask for. What about me, then? I'll go poor. That's why you should support me. Aren't you being selfish? You aren't giving ME money, so I can begin giving my favorites money. These publishers are so greedy too, why aren't paying me aswell to support their manga?
yes
Depends. If it's something already huge and successful then I don't mind. If it's something more upcoming/ underground / indie then you're - in part - at fault if it never succeeds because those projects usually need every bit of support they can get.
If you're really that much of a greedy cunt that you wouldn't reward entertainment you really like with money then doing some free promotion in terms of shout-outs and good ratings is the least you can do.
>wants to be king of the pirates
>is not an actual pirate
>spends his time liberating kingdoms from their oppressive regimes
more like king of revolutionaries amirite
>Is it wrong to never support your favorite series with money?
No. The money you would have spent for 1 minute of good conscience would never have reached the writer depending on where you live, only publishers and editors collect the money.
I'd only buy/donate to doujin artists who aren't known yet
>he doesn't download scans to read them immediately via tachiyomi
pathetic
I bought one volume of One Piece, does that count?
>Is it wrong to never support your favorite series with money?
Morally? Kind of.
Practically? If i couldn't get them for free i just wouldn't read them.
It's a series about Piracy
20 years ago people had the same idea as you OP. The manga you have available now a days is the direct consequence of your actions.
Yes
what you should do is make sure to support the japanese creator directly, and not the OfFiCiAl RelEaSe that's just american middlemen taking most of your money
It's easy, it just means you're not as big a fan of it as you thought you were. That's all there is to it.
