Just finished this and Anno is a fucking self-masturbatory hack. I never been so disappointed in a retelling. Anno has managed to become the George Lucas of anime, except George didn't rape Star Wars like Anno did Evangelion (Disney did that for him). The only difference is that I can always watch the original NGE and EoE unlike the unedited Star Wars original trilogy, but that is barely saying much.
What were they thinking? Only 1.0 and 2.0 were somewhat sensible but fuck the rest. Apparently there was some bit of damage control over the last film, but I have no idea if that is true. Probably not but fuck Anno anyway.
