Whoever says that really has no clue how the manga industry in Japan works. No one there buys volume 1 of something and goes from there, kids just buy WSJ and read whatever's in there. A ton of people get into long runners like One Piece at whatever random point they started reading it as kids in WSJ, only eventually going back to earlier volumes as they grow older and get more income.

So when Oda says "you can start reading from here" he means that this is going to be a separate arc not tied directly to the events of Wano (like how WCI was tied to Zou). And for more than a decade, Oda was telling kids to go read the synopsis of the previous stories in the One Piece website for free if they wanted to catch up without having to buy previous volumes.

One Piece is the best-selling comic series by volume in history. Who the fuck cares if it falls to number two in the charts twenty-something years later? It already set the Guinness World Record among all comic books in the world, the fuck does a slight decline in some weekly charts mean compared to that?

Do you seriously consider your FOTM comics to be anywhere equal to One Piece?
