It's finished.

FPBP

Aside from , the art style is more realistic and the character designs are a lot better. Every character's facial features are very distinct and they clearly follow military dress code.

>any reason to watch the old series instead of the new?
better character design, and the classical music I guess
other than that the new series is pretty good

The slight changes it makes to the novel are mostly make a better story

Watch the first 2 episodes of the original. Then watch the first two episodes of the new one. They cover the exact same events. If you think the new one is even a quarter as good as the original you're retarded.

Liking old things isn't nostalgia.
Liking things from your youth is is nostalgia.

the silver valley arc is my favorite arc
animation wise. people need to watch the Gaidens

New LoGH looks like kuroko no basket.im not a retrofag and i dont hate kuroko no basket, but theres something wrong about choosing kuroko designs for LoGH

they are both gay homo shit

a sincere love of the history and influential works of animation from around the world

Because the plot points are all glossed over for MUH SPAECEEEEEEE BATLES!!! After catching up on the series I can tell you that:

>The old series lacked in animation but battles felt longer and more thought out
>New Space ship go fast so battles go fast
So all the weight of a battle, calculations, characters getting worn, their ships showing the wear gone

>Yang contemplating things with his crew, himself, and his morals
>New? Well Yang just figured something out because he read the script
Seriously yang barely shows any thought into ANYTHING he does, he just knows to do it

>Reinhards trust in Kierchies? His torn relationships to the empire? His sister?
>Dude just know he's a genius! So he fights gooder
Reinhard is just good at shit because he's suppose to be not because he had his life torn apart at an early age, but because he is a conqueror

>Strain of war on all sides, the backstabbing, the shadow powers
>bad guy bad because bad man is bad
Terraists? Jessica's speech? Empire's old crew? all of it is dumbed down to the absolute minimum to get to action

>Ideologies being a main driving point for main characters and their actions
>I fight because I must do the things that must be done my me to defeat the enemies!
Everyone acts like an NPC, hell even Kirechies death is glossed over in

Yup. At their current rate, the new one will take about as long to complete, and that's only after assuming they'll get that far.

Bad example. The first two episodes of the OVA really aren't the best because of how they adapted the material. The movie remake is a better intro than that, which is why most recommend watching the two movies and then skipping ahead to OVA episode 3.

Controversial opinion, but the opening episodes for DNT were handled better as an introduction, even if the character designs are dogshit, the CGI is ugly, and the battles are pure ADHD.

The character introductions are handled better from a stand point of knowing nothing to understanding their position sure. Alternatively, in the original characters who were in the main cast were introduced and there to make you want to know more, as such you paid more attention to them.

Oberstein is the perfect example, his character is absolutely ham fisted in the remake. The original you always felt like you were in every characters shoes just wondering exactly who's side he was on, who's agenda was he following, what were his real goals. This all pays off in the end of the series when you finally realize for 100% sure that he was there to serve the new empire. All that is completely gone in the new series because Oberstiens introduction is so short it's meaningless and that his backstory is almost non existent, with his 'actions' being glossed over.

It just plain sucks, it's a fresh coat of paint on something that never needed it in the first place.

The OVA kind of glosses over how Oberstein's scheming caused as much damage to the new Empire as it did help it and instead adds new things like him jumping in front of Reinhard during the assassination attempt.

Sounds like the OVAs improved him.

I prefer the older series because they have more episodes and patience to flesh out its story and characters.

That delicious cel animation granted it looks very Budget a lot.
