I still love Wonder egg despite everything, though I've given up on the idea of a S2

I'll always respect it for trying to handle sensitive issues that anime doesn't often touch but the impact of those early writing decisions is forever lost amidst the complete collapse of its production and later plot direction.

>Tranny Egg Priority
LOL

I actually think they handled Rikas daddy issues pretty well with her having to move on in a way and accept responsibility

oh yeah this show existed
time to forget about it again

I give this show some points for not using the default stock palette that their coloring software comes with.

That ending and the rehash episode because the whole crew got covid ruined what could have been a great anime.

All the apologists in the world can't defend that shitacular ending.

This is still the best scene in anime history.

Rika was the best. Episode 7 was the highlight for me. The sound design and the visuals during the scene the cultist guy is trying to brainwash her is so fucking cool.

Rivals that one still scene in NGE for laziness

I think they were still finishing the episode literally 30 mins before it aired, right?

You don't love wep user, you just love the idea of it. Or what it could've become.

Nah, the scene where Ai is running down the long hallway away from Koito has it beat.

A full season of Frill when?

>I'll always respect it for trying to handle sensitive issues that anime doesn't often touch
The problem with every anime that causes this statement to be uttered is that it's never warranted.
Serious issues require commitment to be tackled in a narration, they need attention, they ask for a certain balance to get done without ending up feeling preachy or like they have nothing new to add to the conversation.
But no show ever does any of that.
No, having a throwaway scene hinting at those issues isn't "tackling them".
No, having a character arc containing those themes but never resolving nor commenting on them in any way is not "handling issues".

It's always this half-assed short leap that goes nowhere, it feels almost like either the writers couldn't figure out how to handle it or worse, like they felt like they added "depth" to the show already and needn't go further than that.
Ultimately we're talking about cheap entertainment that rarely tries to "say" anything so it's not like you can fault it for being what it is, but I wish they'd just stop half-assing it. Just don't do it.

It's like watching a teenager discuss philosophy or politics. Poor attempts make you angry at how they won't study before speaking, and earnest attempts just look stupid out of ignorance.

That’s a part of it, but I still love what we got, for as flawed as it is. Cute girls, great animation, nice music, and the first 4 episodes were pretty good too

The frill episode was pretty amazing for being in the latter part of the series.
>Cute girls
Just Rika
>great animation
It was great, making the drop in quality in the last several or so episodes even worse
>nice music
True, indisputable point

>bark bark

NGE has plenty of those. Atleast they animated SOMETHING here.

>get gigantic fucking budget to make anime look incredibly beautiful
>don't even bother planning the story ahead of time
>make shit up as you go
>introduce a ton of interesting ideas and mysteries in the first 10 episodes
>realize you've got 2 episodes left to wrap up a second cour's worth of mysteries and arcs
WHY do they do this? HOW do these fucking anime originals keep ending up like this? How the fuck do they get people to invest big bucks into animating and voicing and composing for a project that hasn't even been fucking fully written out yet?

>>Cute girls
>Just Rika
Rika is definitely best girl but ai was adorable too, and obviously frill

>No, having a character arc containing those themes but never resolving nor commenting
It was kind of resolved in Rikas case though

Kek I remember when this was getting shit on last year

Post the kiss scene from ep 10 with momoe and the girl (yes, girl)

My sides, it hurts my sides and my soul to laugh at this.

>obviously frill
>is daywalker
>is evil
>actually looks like golem beneath her glitz and glamour
I'll stick to Rika and pic related, but thanks.
