Gege has said in the manga the trend towards sure hit/sure kill made domains a high level technique and only a minority of even powerful sorcerers nowadays can use them. IMO this doesn't really hold up, because we see with Hakari and Higurama even non-lethal domains can be highly refined, meaning even if it's ultimately weaker it would still be worth learning a domain for most sorcerers as at least an an anti-domain technique even better than simple domain.

How do you figure? A weaker domain would simply get overpowered(Jogo), or like we saw when Megumi invaded Dagon's domain, he was able to negate the guaranteed-hit but all his energy was dedicated to keeping his domain activated and needed Nanami to protect him.
Other scenarios would have the Domains would cancel each other out and temporarily disable the users' techniques.
With Simple Domain we've seen it used offensively(Mechamaru, Miwa) and defensively(Ui Ui, Kusakabe).
Simple Domain seems to be the safer bet for anti-domain moves.
Really, having SOME type of anti-domain technique should be a requirement for grade 1 sorcerers since they're expected to fight special grade curses. I don't think Gege thought of it yet when Nanami first got caught in Mahito's expansion.

Isn’t it supposed to be a pretty rare ability? E dumb if everybody could pull one off, and it’s why Megumi is considered so strong. Nanami, Todo, Naobito, Naoya etc, considered monsters without needing one.
