Any character that has either traveled with the Strawhats, interacted with them several times throughout the series, has an actual personality, can provide to the crew through their expertize or experience, has a good and unique design and has an interesting ability or way of fighting. (At this point I feel like joining after their introduction arc is too little, considering how far in the series we are.)
Examples of characters that DO fit these conditions:

>Yamato (No personality, bad design has practically no crew interaction, introduced too late)
