Explain this character to me, because otherwise I think he's one of the worst protagonists I've seen
>father is a big moralfag and peacekeeper >he wants to emulate his father and heed his advice >dad dies >protagonists then does every single thing possible to go against the advice of his father >plot and story seem to encourage this >no brakes: we're now slaughtering innocent villagers of people because we're hungry and being chased or some shit >story makes it a point to dab on morality, honor, and religion at every turn >still has flashbacks of father saying moralfag stuff like 'Revenge bad' >protagonist never has to actually take on this dilemma because the person he was trying to get revenge against just offs himself >after all of the people he's slaughtered and cruelties he's committed, I'm supposed to feel bad for him according to the writers because his dad is dead Wtf man... this plain sucks.
These characters have no consistency. I don't think the writers even know what they're trying to say The story certainly doesn't NEED to have a major theme on morality, but it seems like they are really trying, or rather, waffling on it
Did they leave out major character development from the manga or something? Or is this shit just poorly crafted? This is the last time I let my friends recommend me an anime to watch
You should really read the manga, or wait 2023 for Season 2. The entire arc addresses all your concerns.

Thorfinn gets his head so far up his own ass with his extreme pacifism that it makes him extremely unlikable.
Hunter Roberts
He's about to lose control of his new country because of it.

Read the farm arc and pretend the series ended there.

Where's the filter? I don't believe there's anything deep about these characters or their story. To the casual observer it just seems nonsensical.
Right, but this person is supposed to be grieving their father. The most respected person in their life. And then... they just do everything possible to besmirch them. I get that the kid is supposed to be a kid, but come on.
Are you kidding me? After all of that shit he just becomes a full-on pacifist? How? That's a complete 180 He should have been a pacifist from the start if anything

>Why isn't the child listening to his parents and being emotional? >Why is the child changing his mind on things as he grows up? You can just save us the reading and say you're autistic.
