It was a fun little predictable ride. I predicted 9/10 of the twists but it's the tenth that catches you unawares making the first 9 worth it. Great character-art. Love me some extra layers of shading. Unfortunately one of the few anime to go the dreaded triple layer. Still have some of the insert songs in my library. But it's utterly forgettable and for a good reason. People form their opinion before they watch a show.

The shading in this show is on another level, I never thought I'd see this kind of 90's OVA shading in modern anime. It's unfortunate that it was wasted on God Eater of all things, imagine if they had used this for a new Berserk adaptation or something of that level.

It doesn't look like any old OVA shading tho, it just used more layer of shading than usual TV anime and added with stylized lighting that feels surreal.

It had some pretty bad direction with slow motion in every "epic look how badass we are" scene, story, characters and action were nothing to write home about. A generic action movie is better than this and those are pretty mind-numbing already. Just not to say I absolutely hated it, I really liked the MCs (Shinka?) backstory episode even if the sister slitting her throat was pure comedy and I also liked that Alisa's PSTD wasn't just cured in 5 minutes with some retarded talk-no-jutsu.

Top tier soundtrack, got to watch it when I was playing Burst in PSP years ago.
Now I finished Resurrection, shit was great. Wish they put the version of No way Back in the game as well.

Because the plot was slow as shit (literally they entire season is just the first 1/3rd of GE1 which isn't even that long) and the characters barely resembled the actual characters from the games (with Alisa taking the worse of it because they made her a stoic edgelord) and of the course the MC himself is nothing more than an Eren knockoff with no standout personality traits and with an incredibly unrealistic goal of eliminating all Aragami from the world.
The anime can look as good as it wants to but it's mediocre at best. Even worse if you're an actual fan of the God Eater games which makes it the equivalent of the Tsukihime anime among the Type-Moon fandom aka it doesn't exist as far as most people are concerned.

It was actually like that in the games too. They even tied in her PTSD in gameplay by making her absolutely useless in combat. The MC has to take her out on several missions to help get her back in shape, and even then she almost gives in back to her fear when she sees a Vajra but overcomes it the moment she saw the MC about to get attacked. After that, her NPC unit became one of the best support characters around.

It's enjoyable, though I prefer Yuu (game and manga "canon" protag) to Lenka. Alisa is a fucking 11/10 in the anime, though, God damn.

I like how the AI in the game can have little quirks like when you bring them in the mission. Resurrection allows you to see what Skills they have at default.

The show had some production issues in TV airing because it's production was basically sacrificed in favour of UBW (which finished it's 2nd cour the season before GE started)
Basically:
Delays almost every 2 episodes (episode 1 itself was also delayed)
simulcast got incomplete versions of some episodes
So many delays that they ran out of timeslots and needed to air the last 3 or 4 episodes several months later
If you watched BDs, you spared yourself the headache. That said, I do think the final product was great despite all the issues
