With women or with men? In the west or in Japan?

Because it's boring. There's only so many times you can rehash the same tired romance tropes

What's up with the "shoujo artstyle"? How come a specific genre tends to look all the same? Who set the trend?

They are popular, but mostly with normalfags who don't really care about fandom and buying fan shit. Many popular shoujo have RL settings so they end up getting live action adaptations (with RL product placements instead instead of branded tie-ins) because it's cheaper than paying animators.

I'd read more shoujo manga if they gave me more shoujo manga to read.
I'm not going to go out of my way to steal it.

They aren’t very varied. I read a bunch of the romance series and only Nana and Fruits Basket stood out but they also weren’t THAT different, just better written characters. I think the good stuff is extremely well regarded like Utena, Sailor Moon, CCS but I guess males are more attracted to those for the action and visuals?

Please Save My Earth Movie: From Alice to Rin

It's basically just 90% a recap of the OVA series, but interspersed with scenes of older Alice and older Rin on a date in the park, and with further narration from Alice along with some new scenes at the end, where she says she loves Rin. It still doesn't make any sense at all without reading the manga, and just like the rest of the OVA it also sucks ass, but it's something extra and kinda clarifies what happens to them a little more.
There are no English subs for it on the internet, but like a year ago I downloaded the Korean and translated the SMI file from that. Just never uploaded it anywhere cause I forgot I even had it on my harddrive.
