He was the best jojo villian since Diavolo

At least, he was well developed and had charisma (after he got slim).

It's not the problem. I think his death was stupid, but it wouldn't have bothered me as much if Toru was an interesting main villain.

Part 9 didn't have a main villain, which seems to confuse people. Toru was just the last man standing out of a group of rock people who all worked together for financial gain. His stand was just OP, so people assume he was some sort of ringleader mastermind trying to take over the world or some shit.

Part 8 is just the biggest victim of speed readers.

Except Tooru is the ringleader of the Hospital gang of Rock People on top of working with Damo and his crew. And Tooru has been researching the Rokkakka since the 40's. And Tooru is responsible for giving Holly a rock disease and literally rotting her brain, Josuke entire motivation to fight the Rock People and work with the Higashikatas. And Tooru was integral in the backstories of two of the main cast member.
