So? It's the same as Arlong Park, where she begs Luffy for help. Since then, Nami held her own against bullshit that makes this story feel like a training exercise. She shouldn't even be bothered to lose her cool in this situation. And the funny thing is, the very fucking first OVA for One Piece from 1998 got this exact plot correctly. Nami realizes that Luffy's out of his league, so she pretends to join the villain to save herself and Luffy, which she does. None of it is played for drama, she doesn't act like a slobbering mess at any point, it's all part of the plan for the quickest thinker in the world who thrived her whole life on swindling pirates. We know she knows what she's doing, because she's part of Luffy's gang godamnit, it'll take more than some filthy pirate to throw her off. But this movie, in an attempt to have more drama, turned her into a worthless little girl who simply resigns herself to her fate in pure despair, praying for others to save her.
For once, I'm actually glad that movies are not canon.
