hitler was pretty cool over all. Very good taste in style, good taste in propaganda and marketing, excellent charisma, a very good guide for lifting people who were down in the gutter out of their hole, and was concerned with preserving his country's unique national identity, which is something so many countries are rapidly losing these days. What would you suggest as an alternative? That someone in his inner circle snapped and killed him then covered it up so well it fooled the Soviets too?
The thing that seals it for me is the Ruskies would under no circumstances have ever killed him in that bunker. They would beat and torturr him a bit if discipline broke but in general Stalin was salivating for a chance to capture Hitler, tey him in front of the whole world as a show of power, then put him to the most miserable execution he could get away with. And his officers all knew it, in fact the ones who had to report to him he'd killed himself before they reached him were known to have been terrified of his wrath for it even while the rest celebrated winning the war.
