Why does Any Forums hate this movie? I thought it was very sweet.

It's basically a chick flick but anime
Elitism and contrarianism, if you shit on popular things you get to pretend that you are better than the unwashed masses.

I dont hate it its just not very good
No idea why.
>t. did not see the movie.
Not OP, but have not seen 5 cm. Having recently read the tie-in books for Kimi no na wa, I realised that while the movie is enjoyable, there are plenty of missed opportunities. Kimi no na wa would definitely benefit from a reimagining as a tv show ( 2 seasons would probably be enough). The big plot hole takes away from the quality of the story, and Mitsuha's dad is never elaborated on in the movie/novelisation. Why he's re-running for mayor etc? It takes a spin-off LN to give his backstory and motives. He could serve as a recurring antagonist for both Mitsuha and Taki. Taki's relatives aren't really shown to interact a lot with Mitsuha ( in Taki's body), at least in the novelisation. Also, Taki's and Mitsuha's friends could be expanded on. Like, in Earthbound, Tesshi's character is layed out pretty well, but we get pretty much none of that in the movie. He could have served as a strong contrast to Mitsuha, for example. Also, obviously it was toned down for normalfag audiences, but really, a lot more fanservice would've occurred due to the body swapping.
This movie came out early in my country. As in, almost the same time as Japan early. I remember it far exceeded my expectations as someone who was already watching Makoto Shinkai movies.
So I had a good laugh when Kimi no Na wa came out in the USA an almost overnight Any Forums went from "Yeah, Makoto Shinkai movies are good" to "MAKOTO SHINKAI IS AN OVERRATED HACK AND ALL HIS MOVIES ARE SHIT!!!!!!!!!"
popular thing bad.
kek.
I don't hate it. I just think it's overhyped. Even the director agrees.
Anything made by Shinkai is fucking awful and the best thing he ever did was The Garden of Words and that was a solid 6/10.
"Shinkai's stories are about a boy and a girl who are always stretching out their hands towards each other, and yet the boy's hand never reaches the girl's crotch."

Yes, Kimetsu no Yaiba is not the best anime ever made and if you say so people here will tell you to fuck off, is a very simple concept.
>entire premise of the movie is a short montage
