Context: she knows him well, they went to the same school and he is the one who didn’t let her give up on chasing her love resulting in her marriage and daughter in picture. The kid got a crush on him by pure coincidence. The kid keep the “not give up on chasing your love” alive both by insisting on him and encouraging other people in doing the same even when it goes against her own interests (another girl who also likes him and not letting him give up on his love for the other teacher as well).
This is a really cute anime and Gainax probably dumped money on it by pure love for the series. They did a different ending theme for each episode with different music and animation, there is no way they could have spent so much and profited from such niche manga.

The EDs are basically the only part of the anime with effort put into it, and they're more like short films where directors and animators were allowed to do whatever they wanted. Osamu Kobayashi's one is especially notable for being some french new wave homage and having nothing to do with the series sakugabooru.com
Chances are Gainax were dumped this thing do adapt and tried to find an outlet to still express some creativity.

It is made for comical purposes and he is nice to her right after but to me the anime gentler teacher feels like an improvement. Couldn’t find the scene online but if I remember right he points out that she just puked when she tries to kiss him.

I like how every single person in this show is nice. Not a single asshole, nobody trying to ruin anyones’s life or trying to hurt others. It is not realistic but gives me hope knowing that someone was capable of making such story. Also it is a breath of fresh air not having to see assholes in fiction as well, real life already is full of them.
