Manga is a visual medium, cluttering the pages with walls of text just to explain how character A avoided the attack of character B is peak brainlet writing. No wonder such works are so popular among midwits
Overly elaborate power systems suck
>Cluttering the pages with walls of text just to explain how character A avoided the attack of character B is peak brainlet writing.
I would agree or constant talking in general.
>Overly elaborate power systems suck
I'd disagree, you can have a complex power system and just not explain all the shit through text.
Nah I like complicated powers.
I want to use my imagination after I've been given something to work with. And if they need to explain the happenings a bit, then so be it.
If you don’t like HxH, try YYH because it’s the same thing but less complex. HxH is good because it’s so well defined and the different types of powers aren’t just window dressing. Also while some people hate the explanations or thoughts of characters using their abilities, it is good setup for a visual fight and always ends in a visual fight. It’s the best of both worlds
Manga isn’t a purely visual medium, you’ve never read a manga where something hasn’t been explained by text
>Well defined
>There's a power category that's just "everything else" because he couldn't define his power system properly.
But if characters don't tell thier move names at each other how else could I understand what's going on?
I mean, what do you want from fighting manga? Have you ever seen a nature documentary? Predation, murder and defeat are all near instant and boring without a larger context to place it in. The fact that a character dodges an attack is entirely meaningless and something you gloss over unless an author draws your attention to it. You have to add text to address obvious interest building questions like: did that character have to dodge, can there be a counterpunch, is there a set pattern to either the dodging or the attacking and so forth. Far be it from me to speculate about how other people enjoy their stories, but my enjoyment basically comes from making a whole lot of guesses about story, relationship, character and combat progression and then seeing some come true and seeing others subverted.
All I read was
>blah blah blah Hunterfag HxH bad Togashi bad
Honestly a based opinion, really.
that's what I've been saying
Spot on. Fucking complicated hard power system are a cancer to shonen and even more cancerous to fantasy as a whole. It reduced interpretation and make everything to be mechanical just for 'rule of cool'
> Manga is a visual medium
Brainlet wordspam cope
It's a text and visual medium. A page full of text is manga just as a page with no text is manga
Fatefags are too dumb to comprehend HxH
>mogs the fuck out of your overly complicated fight manga explanations
If Ichigo's bankai wasn't fucking dogshit Bleach would have been 10x better.
The power system does its job well though.
>implying "everything else" isn't a part of the system because reasons
>oh my spiritual pressure
>oh my big energy wave screaming my move and doing that for 400 chaps
>oh my bait broke harder then ichigos bankai
The power system is swinging the big sword REALLY hard
hcucks SEETHING
can't even defend your rubber nen shit so hard you have to use the same posting pattern LMAO
Anyone defending Bleach at all on Any Forums is entirely modern phenomenon that spawned out of underage Bleach fans from back then growing up and getting bitter and contrarian due to getting deservedly forgotten. Bleach's final arc was so bad it tanked all readership.
>tfw we were born into a world with a poorly designed power system
>Bleach's final arc was so bad
Stopped reading right there.
TYBW is the best arc.
how weak biological creatures are compared to machines is just poor story telling in our world
They are theoretically fine as long as they work as detective works, riddles for the reader. But they don't, Togashi for example just likes pulling shit out of his ass just to awe his audience, you can detect that most obviously in Level E, since it's not a battle shonen.
