The setup and payoff of each joke is very awkward and none it really makes me laugh just more confused.
One example is last chapter I read when they are asking questions to each other and the shota asks a question of rhinos and she doesn't want to answer it BC she doesn't know anything about rhinos and THATS THE JOKE

Bokuyaba is for female self-inserters, it is shameless female pandering.
There is no way a cute, kind, intelligent chuuni boy like Ichi would ever love you, especially if you were some huge dumb amazon like Yamada.
But girls can imagine what it would be like as the manga sells them this blatantly unrealistic female fantasy. The mangaka being a woman should be a tip off.

I think you lack some human interaction or something similar user if you cannot grasp what "the joke" was all about.
Not that is a bad thing, but this manga is clear that is not for you. Because most of the dialogues and actions of the characters are implicit rather than explicit and because there is only one narrator, who is not omniscient, as well.
