A mediocre series that Any Forums gets a hard on of just because the main girl is autistic.

Lain is a sentient computer program who exists in the physical world and the Internet simultaneously. She has the ability to destroy the invisible barrier between the Internet and the physical world. Over the course of the show, she embraces her nature as an omnipotent and omnipresent virtual being who exists beyond the borders of devices, time, or space.

Dude, just watch it while robotripping. You'll understand all.

you don't seem to understand, user

science mans do experiment to connect childrens' psychic abilities to the universal human unconsciousness and then in a second (in series) experiment a second science man connects childrens' psychic abilities and the collective human unconscious to the internet. lain is a sort of emergent AI from the internet and second science man tries to control her so he can control the world and live forever (via the internet) except he ceases to be human and lain's newly evolved human consciousness (ambiguously involving a corpse?) overpowers him easily and unfucks the /x/ memes that are sneaking into reality and maybe never happened at all.

explain how Lain can be so sexy

It's made confusing in purpose so as to make you think there's more to it than it actually is.
The series has good beautiful art but nothing else going for it.

2022 Any Forums is so pathetic and full of newfags and summerfags who hide behind irony instead of being genuine that liking Lain for what it is without going into hyperbole is now the minority opinion to hold.

it is made confusing on purpose but what is there is also very good but not more than that that pseuds who dont get it claim

The series doesn't say anything interesting, it's just a fantasy series with chrome plating on top.
Instead of a child being some sort of unknown god she's some sort of unknown internet god created by an experiment.
I don't mean to say the series is bad for it, but it should be taken for what it is, a beautiful science fantasy anime.

it says lots of interesting things but not
>what does it mean
>whats the moral of the story
>how does anime replace my personal philosophy
zoomer garbage

>It's made confusing in purpose
It's really not, it's straightforward for most of its runtime and just because there's technobabble here and there that invites you to dig deeper doesn't mean it's meant to be confusing by design.

What exactly is confusing? There's no surreal narration you can't really trust. There aren't multiple timelines or perspectives. It doesn't have a dreamlike or psychedelic aesthetic that makes you question whether what happens is real. There's no disjointed scenes that don't connect with one another. It's WYSIWYG for the most part.

things are placed out of order narratively

>surreal narration you can't really trust
that is probably not true? it's ambiguous though, the viewer can't 100% trust anything they are shown though.

Sir, that's Evangelion. It's no wonder you might not understand Lain as you have watched the incorrect program.
